Got to put a gladhand seal on it.

I often wondered that myself.Think the mexicans sell them.I a feel times had to drop and hook in a SanDiago yard and every seal on all the trailers were gone.I asked the guard about it and he didn't know.So its best once u drop your trailer take the seal off and keep as many as u can on hand.I had to bobtail to a truckstop to buy a seal.Learned my lesson after the first time.

 

That's nothing, I have seen refer units come back across the border missing the REEFER UNIT, just a big hole! Tires missing, door hardware stripped off, all sorts of stuff. This was a few years ago, around 30, I am sure it is better now.

I'm surprised whole trailers aren't stolen more often even on this side of the border. They are left in unsecure drop lots all over the country for days even weeks at a time. A new dry van trailer is like $30k isn't it?. I know I wouldn't leave anything worth even half that unsecured.

 

I remember that years ago missing trailer lights were the main thing lol

 

You guys just don't get it.

They are missing because the Mexican drivers want to mess with the US drivers.

I was told this when I worked on the border.

 

The Border is not a good place. Never has been.

 

I've always suspected that being closer to the truth.

 

With all due respect I don't think you have fully got it either. These gaskets being removed is more of a joke that all drivers pull then simply Mexican drivers removing them.When I dropped an emply there I almost always took the gaskets out of them so I would have them for the loaded trailer I was about to pick up. My father told me of having this problem picking up at ports on both the east and west coasts back in the late 50s and 60s.
