Today in the wonderful (not) state of Oregon I got violation for not putting on duty the time that I was in taxi cab trying to get to work, how stupid and I mean stupid is that? Apparently its in Section 395.8(e) i didn't find anything on that. I know when you are in a truck bobtailing that is off duty how the hell is it that you have to put yourself on duty when you are in a taxi not driving just riding????????you don't even have to put yourself on duty when you are in the back of truck just riding. Any advice or help what should I do about this non sense. They control our life, with this crap.

Were you reporting to your normal work location, or recovering a truck?

Seems like another DOT lapdog can now kiss up to his supervisor while wagging his tail.

I was recovering the truck, a driver was at the shipper and I came in and we switched.

So you reported to work, then the job was to take the taxi to go collect the truck ... sorry man .. but I would have to say that should be on duty ....

No I was off duty for 8 previous days, and today was the first day of working. Just like you driving your personal car to start your new trip would you put that on duty? for some people it takes 3-5 hours to get to their yard, if they put that on duty now they can only drive 4-5 hours because they have to do pti and log books.........that just doesn't make any sense at all..

Did you take the taxi from the yard to go collect the truck? Or to get to work in the first place? How did you get from the yard to the recovery location of the truck you were assigned to recover?
