Performance bonuses, safety bonuses, fuel bonuses and the like are simply gimmicks to entice drivers to drive more or suffer more.

I've heard of bonehead drivers who will endure risking a heat stroke by shutting off their tractor during high heat to earn a fuel bonus.

As Forrest Gump says, "Stupid is as stupid does."

The whole point of being employed to begin with is to live better.

What should happen is that drivers are paid to do their job. Simple.

If you haven't stumbled across Mark from Trucking Answers, you should do so. And he's your neighbor.

I hope trucking is a success for you and that you get to trade Black Lung for black smoke.

Yea I worked for Schneider and they’re bonus was setup up to .04 cents per mile depending on how you met they’re standards.
Which was mpg. Days worked. Stopping at one of theyre fuel solutions.
They hated if you idled the truck. You have to call to And tell them the temp and that your idling to get the time removed. And they only removed it if it was above 80 or under freezing. In the winter they wanted you to use the bunk heater.
When it all broke down the bonus for struggling ended up being about 10-20 dollars extra per assignment or like 80-90$ a week.
Or you can do like me enjoy your time in the truck. Get up to 4 points per gallon at pilot and live like a king. I left Schneider 6 months ago and still have 72$ in pilot points

TMC has an Indy terminal if you're interested in flatbed work.

I don't ever expect to see a bonus. I got one last week for safe driving. It was $600. That was a shock but this company tries it's best to keep drivers that don't break things

Well, you're smart to be thinking about it and planning ahead.
Study, beginning now, and plan to get all the endorsements added to your cdl.
Drivers working for low pay are doing it either voluntarily or because there's something negative in their background.
