I use the garmin 760...its not always close but will auto correct. I think its important to know where u are going. its is fabulous for timing (eta, speed, etc.). I also like the map especially when closing in on customer. has lane assist which can be helpful. DO NOT follow it blindly. its an awesome tool, I've got tons of places programmed in already..makes things quick.

When I was with Roehl I ran a Rand McNally which was usually identical to the Roehl routing. I don't know if they are using the same routing program now though.

I have Rand too, it's pretty close. Most of differences are when Roehl avoids toll roads. But I don't shut tolls off because we do go on them too.

my rand 720 is close, easy enough to input waypoints to force it on route.

used to write down the route for reference, but after a while ya can just remember the odd parts ;)

I usually only do the way point on the rare occasion it gets stubborn, and says turn around for like 40 miles.

If you actually read the posts, no one said just use gps. It's another tool, not be used alone.

Have not looked at my paper atlas in six months...between the Truck PC GPS, Roehl routing, Google or Apple maps on smart phone & Rand GPS just haven't needed it.
Disclaimer: Being dedicated and only working in 10 states with 30-40 locations doesn't hurt either.
