How accurate are GPS when they give the grade %. Mine is usually fairly accurate on the regular mt passes, 6,7,% grades but today I went up and down this grade, 3 miles up, GPS showed between 14% and 18% grade most of the time except for about 300' of sheer uphill where it showed 28% grade. I was afraid my load would start sliding of the back, lol. It was some nice scenery but #### it was scary. No guardrail, switchback the whole way and having to use the whole road. Good experience tho, only 7 more loads to go up there

They get "satellite drift" in the woods and alongside hills, inside canyons, through dense trees high above, etc. and they get confused momentarily.

I was thinking so to but it showed the same up and down. It may not have been 28% but it was steep enough!

Nw Montana. Delivered to a jobsite. Some woman is getting a 30 million dollar house. I went down a short grade in Iowa somewhere one time. I'm thinking it was around 10% so there's a few little hills in the midwest. Lol

18% is the most I've seen...this was in Missouri. There is a road in Arkansas that I'm pretty sure would top it, but didn't have the GPS showing grade while going up that one.

Lovell to Dayton Wyoming on 14A is a trip. If you get the chance take the 60 mile detour instead.

I've taken 14 across but never 14a, that does look like quite a trip!

14A is closed for winter. It was a long climb. Great view though. I saw the sign saying "steep grades 23 miles ahead" I thought it was weird they'd tell you so far away... Not 23 miles away, but 23 miles of grades. Maybe it was both.

That seems to be near whitefish lake, apparently a 4 wheeler trail.

    It's above Missoula MT

    Google Maps

to type a degree mark with old style keyboard is alt+0176 to insert degree mark where appropriate into google search.
