The 58-year-old man lost both of his ears following the attack. (GoFundMe) The man, identified as Milton Sturges, 58, was out walking Wednesday when the dogs attacked. A neighbor who heard the man screaming called police, who, upon arrival, reportedly saw the man being mauled, local news station CBS 11 reported. One officer struck the dogs -- believed to be adult pit bulls, one male and one female -- with a weapon. Eventually, they successfully pulled the dogs off the man. Sturges was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. “He lost both of his ears. His nose was partially torn off and his bottom lip was partially torn off,” Omar Sturges, Milton’s nephew, told the news station. Milton Sturges will now require reconstructive surgery, according to a GoFundMe createdto assist with medical expenses. Officials with the Arlington Police Department are now conducting an investigation into the incident and are searching for the dogs’ owners. Authorities told CBS 11 the male pit bull, which weighed an estimated 80 pounds, was gray with “cropped ears” and “appeared to have chain marks (scars) around [his] neck as if he had been chained up.” The female, which was brown and also had cropped ears, weighed roughly 55 pounds and “appeared to have previously had a liter(s) of puppies,” authorities said, according to the news station. The dogs reportedly died after they were taken by local animal control officials. (GoFundMe) Following the attack, both dogs reportedly died after they were taken by local animal control officials. Neither dog was wearing a collar or was microchipped, CBS 11 reported. Though he’s still recovering, Milton Sturges is now in stable condition and is “talking” and “moving around,” Omar Sturges said. “I don’t want to see another family go through this simply because they’re not able to find the owner,” the man’s nephew added. A spokesperson for the Arlington Police Department was not immediately available for comment when contacted by Fox News on Saturday.
There are people that will defend the pit bulls and condemn the man. Reminds me of the guy in NYC that said his pit bull is such a loving, kind, gentle animal. Then one day he gets a frantic phone call from home; the pit bull ate the face off the man's little boy. His little son now has no face. I carry a very sharp phillips head screw driver when I do my nightly walk around the neighborhood.
If there is a rightful owner of at least one of the dogs,m identified, I hope they have proper liability insurance because they’re going to need it.
Another good reason to carry a gun. And to wipe these aggressive breeds out of existance. These " responsible" owners should be spend the rest of their lives in a prison cell.
You’re right. There’s a handful of people who will swear pit bulls are as “sweet and even tempered” as a golden labs.
Probably loose fighting trained dogs. Very unfortunate for that man. I feel for that guy. I also know the dogs were out of control as well which does not help anything, being I love dogs. Most of the time.
While most Pits that I have met, want to lick my face off, I have been around a few that were raised to fight and be aggressive... Upbringing and responsible parents are the biggest factors in something like this. And yes, I say parents, cause your raising, training, teaching, and loving them. So if you do it right, they're your kids. 10 Most Aggressive Dog Breeds: Temperament Ratings and Information Dogs blacklisted by most (if not all insurance companies) Pit Bull Terriers Staffordshire Terriers Rottweilers German Shepherds Presa Canarios Chows Chows Doberman Pinschers Akitas Wolf-hybrids Mastiffs Cane Corsos Great Danes Alaskan Malamutes Siberian Huskies ... and this coming from someone who has 2 Great Danes, and my female can be just as grumpy and barky when someone comes knocking on the door. (Territorial by nature) but other than that, they both are lovey, couch potatoes. LOL
Huh? It was sarcasm bro. It’s always a pit bull. But pit bull owners say they are loving sweet animals and are just misunderstood
