Does anyone know of good gravel haulers to work for? I have heard this is seasonal, but that's exactly what I'm looking for.

I know, but I'm planning on quitting current gig in Spring. I'd like to get into gravel hauling, but honestly don't know what to look out for.

I've seen a couple YouTube videos from during the boom. Both said it was the easiest trucking job ever. Not sure if there's even demand for it anymore though.

Someone in the other thread stated they have friends that have been doing it for years, and they've somehow managed to go home with unemployment after they get laid off yearly. I'm not sure how they can pull that off, if there's knowledge beforehand that it's seasonal.

Gravel hauling is pretty common up in that part of the country, the Dakotas,Montana, etc. There is always a need for them, not just because of the oil field. Once the ground starts to thaw is when they really come out. I'd imagine that they rank around water haulers. Have tanker but no hazmat, haul water. Don't have tanker? Haul gravel, etc.

They're local so they don't run log books. I imagine that they put in a lot of hours.

I believe there were a couple of outfits in Sydney Montana, just south of Williston. Also check in Watford City and Alexander areas. And of course up in Williston or down in Dickinson. Minot had a few outfits too.

Our boss ran us 16 hrs a day +

    You did gravel hauling?
Do most all these companies do the 150 airmile radius thing? While I wouldn't mind the occasional 16 hour day in midsummer, I think it would be less than stellar on a regular basis though.

Can you live out of the truck? Do they allow teams?
