my husband and son have put in at great american, and will be starting for them next week, they are supposed to have the miles or runs they are looking for. they are leaving Schnieder for them. Schnieder is not operator friendly. and could not give them enough miles for a team. nothing but short runs and bad attitudes. :biggrin_25513: hoping Great American can give them the long hauls and money to go with it.:biggrin_25525:

I am a recruiter for Great American Lines and most of you are correct. The headquarters for GAML is in Murrysville, PA. The corporate office is located in Warren, MI. We have over 500 trucks on the road and Universal Truckload Services as a whole has over 4000. We are a large company with agents in almost every state. Im assuming I have talked to you before if you are thinking about coming to GAML. We are still hiring out of OH if you are interested and we not only have owner operator positions, but driver only positions as well. Send me an email if you want some more details or find my phone number on the great american website.

So im leased onto Great American Lines and i gotta say while my average may no be that high $2mi all miles to truck. I been able to stay very busy and this week pulling others loads, universal, mason Dixon, etc in house i been able to pump out 1.8mi all miles. ran about 2540 this past wk. load from muscle shoals,al to gainesville,fl,then dh 180miles hazlehurst,ga to saint ignace,mi load then dh 151 south to clare,mi to cadiz,oh no tarp crane matts but wasted 5hrs on both ends getting unloaded. then came thru last minute on 2 loads on friday cuz of late unload went up to monroe,mi coil to bham,al then back over to get crane part to add with it in solon,oh to de kalb,ms only to find out its 44 ft not 31 moved coil upfront so over on drives.Cant wait for this load to be over. Next wk is looking like $2mi wk. So far i love it over here wouldn't trade it for 10 mercers.lol

I found this thread and was wondering how it is going with Great American. I am looking into signing on with them pulling vans. Can you give me any info on the company and/or their van freight?

This company is a bottom feeder, I was on their dry van/reefer div. 24% of $1.10 per line haul mile is garbage pay. You wont make anymore than that. My average pay was $700 a week gross and the trucks are all over 750,000 miles. Hope this helps
