exploration Geologist ? Why don't you go get a job doing that with an oil company? You can mae a heck of a lot more money doing that than hauling water.

daf, I don't think you can make a "heck of a lot more" money as a geologist. Besides how many ads do you see seeking a geologist compared to ads seeking someone who can haul water, fluids, or oil? I bet you a geologist could go up to ND with 3 years experience and he may make $50K but a trucker with 3 years could tank oil around and make over $100K. :biggrin_25519:

From what I've read they're very competitive. See my PM for more details.

Second day of orientation is today. So far they're treating us very well.

I almost took a job in George West and we were able to find available apartments in Beeville. We also looked for available apartments in Corpus and my general feeling is that they're pretty easy to find.

I contacted GoldSpur about a job but they only haul oil in Texas (they do haul water in ND and UT) so they are unable to hire anyone with less than a year's experience. They were very polite and got back to me quickly.

Last night my wife and I applied to Key Energy Services to drive out of their George West location. Guess we are following in Ben Gunn's shoes:biggrin_25525:

If anyone has any advice, leads, etc on how to locate the yards hiring drivers for the oil industry in the San Antonio region please do let me know. We will only be there 8 days and I would love to land a job quickly so we can possibly rent a house and head on down with our stuff.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the PM Ben Gunn! This is my 7th post so maybe I will get freed up to pm back soon. That was basically what I had heard about Key. Do they offer you per diem, housing or relocation assistance?
