I do know that vann has lots of work with eog. I know the guy that worked for eog that gave them the contract. He said they will have steady work for a long time. I don't know what vann is like to work for but I do know the work is there.

this ( thread ) actually nails a critical and central area of the job search, some can drive maybe long way then spend time waiting for background and so on but the company may not be a Halliburton - or similar stature - there are a few of us, my part for example, that have to dig the safety reports and dig for the companies seeking narrowly frac sand/water driver

that is deceptive trying to do it on the internet ....

They must be real hard to get with. I usually get a phone reply in less than a week when I apply for an oilfield driving job (the last 4 apps have called me the next day). I can't even get Plains to return a phone call (nevermind reply to my application).
Hourly pay is nice but I want commission pay while the gettin is good.
Anyone got a Texas contact # for them (preferably Corpus).

OK, time for a Sunday jobs report for the Victoria area...

I'm hearing the hiring is strong. I go into the Port of Victoria and Port Comfort to unload, and Cuero to get loaded. At these places they are building more bays so more trucks can get loaded at the same time. There are no signs that things have slowed down, if anything they have picked up.

In today's Sunday paper I see ads looking for Gravel Haulers, Winch Truck and roll off trucks, and Crude and LPG haulers. Gulf Mark Energy and Schneider have ads looking for crude oil haulers. I also hear Sun Coast is looking. If you have experience, TWIC (because you are hauling into ports) Hazmat and Tanker, they are looking hard for you!

Here is what I like about hauling crude: you get home every night, they pay great and the work is not hard. I hear OTR truckers who did that for years say they wish this would have been around for them years ago. Anyone complaining down here would probably complain about any job! The pay is steady and most drivers I know do not drive more than 200 miles a day, but you do need to have some patience because sometimes you wait for hours to load or unload.

So how do things look with the oil field job market in your part of Texas???

Rockdoctor.....how long is the training program for the company you hired on with to haul crude? I take it you are not going to well sites in the field to load?

I Agree with Rockdoctor. There are plenty of jobs around if you have 1-2 yearsof experience.I,m still searching and headed toward Cuero tomorrow to look for a company that will hire a newbie at a decent rate of pay with lots of overtime. I will let you all know what I find

Oklahoma routinely takes 4 of our guys for 3 days at a time and sometimes keeps them for longer periods. That's 22.5 paid everyday you are there. I just now got back from a great 30hr adventure from something that was suppose to last 7hrs lol... Thought I was on the Outer Limits there for a second... LMAO!!

Hey everyone. Been reading all of these TX oilfield threads and have decided to make the jump also. I'm just asking for a few last bits of advice if anyone has any.....

I've got 1.25 yrs exp yankin' tanks for orange with hazmat and TWIC.

I've got a list but I'm scared to get hired by a 'bad' company I guess. I'm willing to work long and hard and straight away, but had a bad experience recently. I left orange for a too good to be true situation. Anyway I always felt like I was wasting time while I was OTR because of all the sitting. So these oil field jobs look like what I'd like to do.

I'm looking to relocate to San Antonio area'ish. If anyone has any direction/companies around that area they know of that I'd qualify for, I'd be very grateful for some direction.

I'll probably leave this week sometime when I've built a plan. Oh and all of my records are completely clean :)

Thanks to those who help and to everyone who's been updating these threads and helping each other out......

There is a job fair next week in Victoria. Heard a couple of the trucking companies may be there too.

I've given you a good start list of the trucks tanking oil in this area. If you need more names I would go to Cuero, sit at the main intersection where the McDonalds is located, and write down the names of the trucks as they roll thru there.

    Good luck!
