I haven't stopped looking, but at least this one is an actual offer. No wonder, an 84 hour week would be just north of burger flippin' wages.
On the other hand, the others I've applied to haven't called back. If it comes down to the end of school, it's either this one or going down there cold.
    I Ain't There Yet.

I think that schedule would work better for a commissioned driver vs salaried. You might do well hourly with overtime. Since you are fresh out of truck driving school you are going to have to jump thru a few hoops and there are dues you are going to have to pay.

Trucking in general is demanding work. When things go wrong you are the guy who has to pull together loose ends and lie things work. It can be very frustrating at first until you get a handle on a few basic things.

One thing you may want to consider. $1100 per week ain't too bad starting out. There are a lot of OTR companies that specialize in B.S. and will out right cheat a new driver coming out of driving school. Lord knows most of us have been there and done that.

Once you get 12 months experience behind you there will be more options available to you. Also, do your level best to protect your driving record. If you start racking up points and mishaps you will find yourself in the position where nobody will hire you.

    Jerry,

I get paying the dues. That's one of the reasons I might let them abuse me for a while, if nothing else comes up sooner.

I'm a newbie AGAIN! I actually drove OTR a year or so a while back. After 6 mos, I leased my own truck and leased it onto a carrier, and trained my wife to drive team with me. We ran mostly dedicated for TJ Maxx and Marshalls, and some line haul doubles for LTL companies. I got to experience being a newbie once myself, and shortly thereafter got to "help" my wife through the same thing. Aaack! That was an adventure.

She surprised me one night though, over in western PA threading that rig between two concrete Jersey barriers with about 8" clearance on each side for 20 miles. She woke me up crying about a mile and a half into it....when I went to sleep, she was on the open interstate. She hung in there though, and did a good job all the way through it, with me sitting in the jumpseat. Thought she might quit that night, but she didn't.

    Good luck guys!
