As far as Tyson acct..they lost that one in January to kllm.

KLLM has a bunch of trucks leased to Tyson. -
They're about to lose the Walmart acct in new caney tx as well....so many drivers are bailing from there that they're having to broker loads out just to get them covered....
The regional ops mgr who's running new Caney was in charge of one of the Florida Walmart accts when they lost it.
They just got rid of all the load planners and dispatch in dallas corp office too that was handling the dispatch for the Walmart accts in Texas. -

I am new to this forum and am glad I found this thread. I needed to post something about Greatwide and the title of the thread is appropriate. GREATWIDE now, according to new safety policies, will terminate a contractor's lease if he gets a "warning" for, among other things, "following too closely". That's right, a "warning" ticket!
Anyone that has trucked for more than just a few months knows that law enforcement will use "pretext" stops just to stop you and question you about other things they are suspicions about. Two of their favorites reasons just to pull you over and check for other things are improper lane usage and following too closely... that is if they can't see a tag light out our something "concrete" (objective) like that. Following too close is a "subjective" call anyway, EVEN if it is not used as a "pretext" stop. It is only non-subjective if one rear-ends another vehicle. If a car comes down an on ramp squeezes in front of you and before you have time to achieve a proper following distance a cop stops you and issues you a warning ticket......AND YOU LOSE YOUR JOB OVER THIS ???
What is THIS going to do for recruiting and retention of drivers? I know if I was thinking about leasing on to Greatwide and I knew you would be terminated for a warning ticket, it would raise some red flags for sure?
This new policy is especially interesting after hearing that drivers were not terminated after causing thousands of dollars of damage to equipment by "topping" trailers?? WTF? Is safety at GREATWIDE totally devoid of common sense? "We will terminate you for a warning ticket, but go ahead and top a trailer"? I already know that if you have an animal strike they will look at your Peoplenet and see if at anytime of the day you were "speeding" and use the old "well if you weren't speeding earlier then you would not have been there when the deer was there" routine. Really? And now this ??
Please, am I wrong here to feel this way? It sounds like to me Greatwide safety department needs to "live in he real world" and get rid of whoever it is trying to make names for themselves by concocting silly, illogical policies. Feedback ???Last edited: Sep 29, 2012

Well, here at Kroger DC in Delaware, OH. We just had a O/O fired cause he got his CDL suspended for not paying his child support and didnt tell the company. He resolved it 2 weeks later, BUT he was taking loads and driving during those 2 weeks. Another driver clipped a person on their bike and left the scene even tho the person on the bike needed an ambulance. The 3rd was a driver that went out drinking and passed out, woke up and took his load up the road even tho he was still intoxicated. Got pulled over 20 miles up the road and arrested. With all this being said...Who is at fault? GW or the drivers? Remember, it is a two-way street. Not always the companys fault. Any driver can look good on paper. And, yes we have had ALOT more drivers than that get fired this year. Those are just the ones from this month. Ive only been here at GW 2 years and been to many different accts for them. Helping out on other accts and seen why they needed the help. Like I said, its not only the company. Be safe out there drivers.
