Actually the cost is coming down in lithium ion batteries and I hope it will keep dropping as more and more companies start offering them.

All batteries can explode and that will never go away because they are energy storage boxes that when something is shorted or damaged, it will release that stored energy via an explosion. The more energy stored the bigger the explosion. It is an acceptable risk for storing energy.

If you think about it, a gas tank is storing energy and can explode too.

    aiwiron Thanks this.

LOL ! Until the cost is reasonable , and the explosion problem is solved , I believe I'll stick with the Sears Die Hard Platinum Plus batteries . Long as they offer that 3 year outright exchange , it's a good deal.

I hope to eventually get my own truck to start trying things like this as well as fuel economy as a hobby just to see how how far I can go.

No acid and they can be mounted in various ways and operate like a deep cycle marine battery. No real noticeable difference otherwise.

LOL ! You do , and you might find you have more pressing things to do , for awhile , at least , than " trying things like this " as a " hobby " !
    but Good Luck !
