Anybody got any advice on a low dollar 12 volt A/C system for the sleeper that I can hook to my batteries?

Batteries have a less chance of exploding than yesterdays batteries, more likely to get a flat than a battery exploding

I agree and if you use tire monitoring system that makes that almost non-exisitance.

One can also go "green" and use a portable generator that runs on NG. One is allowed to have tanks of propane or NG on board that can be hooked up to a wide variety of generators that can run on multifuels. One outfit takes regular Yamaha generators and sets them up to use gasoline, propane, or NG.... with no modification to switch between which fuel you want to use. Ready to go right out of the gate to use all 3 fuels. One of these units, running NG, will comply with the strictest of emissions regulations throughout the nation. And be more versatile (maybe even less cost overall) than using battery banks and such. And now NG is available at a lot of truck fueling locations, as is propane. And one can carry, legally, tanks holding enough of these fuels to not have to refill for quite some time.

One problem with any compressed flammable fuel, no tunnels.

Solar requires no refueling or hassles of refueling associated with locating a source of fuel.

I would rather find a diesel generator, if only there were as cheap.

RV's are not commercial vehicles so say the people that enforce it, cloudy days can still produce power but at a lower capacity, I agree the diesel generator is in my interest as well to include finding shore power locations.
