Howdy guys this question goes out to anyone with end dump or Ready mix experience. I am out of Southern California and I'm wanting to know what the pay is like for a Ready mix or end up guy. I know there's a company out here called Robinsons Ready mix has anyone heard of them? I know they hire and train greenhorns wondering if anyone knows what the pay scale looks like. Also if you know of any other companies in the area that would be a great help to. I have my CDL with all endorsements and I am wrapping up a month with covenant transport doing over the road.
From what I understand I can be creative with my CDL and I don't have to necessarily work just over the road.
Any comments or help from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

    thank you, drive safe

Just thru wrapping up a whole month with Covenant?? Even tho it's Covenant,, why so soon?
You won't be able to get "creative" with your CDL until you have at least a solid 1 to 2 years of experience, without job-hopping.

I drove a concrete mixer in the south years ago, not Cali tho, and they pay was pitiful. Up north in the midwest, it's quite opposite.
Not sure about southern Cali, tho, but I suspect it also to be on the low side, with the large dominance/influx of mexican workers.
You're gonna need a lot more than 1 month experience to look appealing to most companies. jmo

I understand I may seem a bit eager to get out of the bottom feeder companies. Just looking ahead to start sewing seeds for a better job. I hear you on the expirence thing. I'm planning to spend at least 3 months with covenant before I consider trying to get "creative"

    Gracias, mi amigo

By the wording in your original post, I thought that you had already left Covenant after 1 month, and wasn't sure if an incident or something "made" you leave.
Sorry, I didn't realize you were still with them.

No, I don't blame you a bit for trying to vacate Covenant ASAP. I wish you could have hooked up with a much better company right from the get-go.
I didn't intend for my post to come off as condescending,, only for it to be a reality check. Your 2nd post clarifies things, and sounds better.
Hopefully, someone with south Cali info chimes in, relative to the area's end dump & ready mix opportunities and pay scale.

OK, I can't speak about aggregate in California. Exactly. But I do have aggregate experience in Utah, and I can tell you that they are not bottom feeder companies. In fact, they would make bottom feeder companies LOOK GOOD! In most cases, the equipment is junk, the DOT are all over you because they KNOW your truck won't pass inspection. The company will work you as long as they need to, without regard to legal HOS.

I have recommended aggregate or construction to guys who just couldn't find a job. But to move over to that from a road job, even with Covenant, is a step in the wrong direction, IMHO! Hang in there with Covenant for a while, meanwhile, if you want to go local, start getting applications in to LTL freight companies.

Not sure where you are in "Central California," but you should have numerous LTLs to apply to.
