SO I have to ask, what made LE officers go from riding in a squad to riding in a truck. For me I hated the small town politics crap, but I also never was a brown noser. Heck being of Mexican decent its been brown since birth, natrually. HEHE

Like you, I hated the small town politics, the BS in general, the low pay, and the lack of respect from pretty much everyone. Every now and again, I still get 'the itch' and start considering LE again, at which time, my wife promptly reminds me..."didn't we have an agreement?"

I too have worked for the small town police department. I have to say that being a deputy is less stressful, although politics are rampant everywhere. Most police you deal with are uptight because they get aggravated with all the bs they put up with. Being a deputy is more laid back, definitely more ground to cover and you don't have to put up with as much crap. Things are handled differently, almost the complete opposite of a city department. I will still take a 379 any day of the week though, and if I ever leave this department I am done with law enforcement altogether.

    Big Don Thanks this.

I guess being deputy would be better, at least you have a bigger section to patrol andif you dont want to deal with the public much take a ride out in the country. SO my friend tells me from where hes a deputy.

I did both as well. Far preferred working for a sheriff's office than a police department. I liked the variety of assignments that were available. Only part that I really didn't care for was the custody work. I spent a total of three years in a county jail, as a supervising deputy.

Retired. Got bored with retirement after a bit.

I've never had the desire to go back into it. Every month that passes makes that job more stressful. Between the increase in gangs, the increase in political correctness, the increase in law suits, and the decrease of available funding, I can't understand how anybody can actually WANT to do that job any more.

That is if you are lucky, and on a good day!:yes2557:

That is just what we need in Law Enforcement. My Son is training right now for the State Police here In MI, He was out on the road with me Yesterday on a one day out run, no Classes and I hope he also understands the ins and outs of being a Trucker on the road.
I pointed out to him as a Light turned Yellow. We were at 79000 lbs. Going less than the Speed limit, but I knew it was more safe to travel on than to try to stop in snow and slide to a stop in the intersection. The light Turned Red while In the intersection. He saw how a Yellow is yellow long enough for a Car to stop, but not a Truck. Things that Only a Trucker would know. Glad to see a Trucker on the force.
