Greetings!

Just got my prehire letters. I think I've spent more time on the phone in the last 3 weeks than I have in the previous 5 years! I'm set to go to CDL school on the 29th of May, and after that I have my choice of companies to go with (I won't name them here, since I don't want to start a company "war", lol)

I live on the East side of Wa State, and my CDL school will be DTI. My dad was a milk truck driver for years, I've got a grasp on the industry, but this will be my 1st time driving. I intend to go in as a company driver, because I'm definately in no shape to understand the ins and outs of O/O, and I want to enjoy the experience without worrying about how I'm going to make it.

I'm not looking to get rich driving, especially my first year or two. Although potentially I can make at least as much per year driving as I did in my old job in metal fab shops, which has dried up in my neck of the woods. I'm hoping that the hard work and the common sense I earned growing up on a farm will earn me a decent living, and I'm under no illusions that this will not be a tough road to travel at first. On the other hand, I'm definately looking forward to seeing the country, meeting new and interesting personalities, and experiencing all life in a truck has to offer.

This forum has ben amazingly helpful. While no one can truly understand what this lifestyle is all about until they've lived it, the information, stories, and insights shared here have been a big part of how I've gone about making some of my decisions as I enter trucking, and I thank everyone here for it!
