As of recent we had an account to a grocery warehouse. Now we wouldnt pay for the lumper, and they would try to make the driver to it, but we would tell them refuse it then... Normally the shipper would have paid for the lumper.

Now getting what Im trying to say, does anyone who works in the LTL field go to a place where they have the lumper do the load and they sit for the hours it takes... My company now refuses to have us wait any more and told the company to take it off as is our refuse it, so they refuses it. I understand that the LTL companies dont want to pay their drivers by the hour to sit there... and I wont argue with that due to the fact I hate sitting for a while. does anyone in the LTL field do that or is it the same way my company feels.

Vijax would send someone of low senority and tell them to throw the load. Got stuck having to do a few loads at a food dist a few times and can throw a load pretty quick. Figured the exercise wouldnt hurt so did a quick throw then go sit in the corner of the lot for a while and ignore the phone.

No we arent required to do it... my company would tell us not to. They dont like having one of us sit around for a while though and still pay us hourly, honestly i can argue that and understand completely. I guess different LTL's have different rules and stuff.

we are TL, but we are no-fingerprint.

Owner feels we are drivers not dock workers. He's paying us for that. Any dock work, the shipper/receiver is paying for it.

My company as well, think it has to do with the union and all but whatever. Like I said we will not pay for the lumper, the shipper has too. I heard the whole story about how it all started and think its pretty messed up

UPS throws their own freight (the boys in the shorty shorts, parcel van). Actually, your freight should be palletized and you, the driver, pulls it off with a pallet jack, consignee signs for it and you're gone. Just like your other 25 stops for the day. Didn't management anticipate this, before getting this account ?

Yeah the ltl guys unload there own stuff at our place Ups freight, Fedex freight, Estes, Conway. They would be waiting awhile cause there are only so many lumpers and everyone gets unloaded at once. So it's better they unload it. Old D has it where they leave the trailer and we park it in the parking area and they pick it up later. Ltl guys probably get all butt hurt when they get that stop. Welcome to my world haha!!

Yea same here, but YRC wont have us do it, they would either tell the company to do it or refuse the order and have us return. IF the shipper had paid the lumper then there isnt an issue.

Fresh direct is awful. 11 dollars a hour for class b driver and 12 for class A. They tried offering me a job few months ago and I just laughed in their face. Heard teamsters is trying to get in there... from what I heard about them I can only hope so just for the workers
