Yes. Different learn curve than tanker.

HH means a lot of time away from home. Adventure.

Both have their own set of dangers.

Get out your US map and have a look. Most all manufacturing is north of the Ohio River. The chemicals needed may come from all over the world. But most Chem production in US is as above cities (See chemical refineries; US). Any US port may be your shipping point.

Hauling fuel I’ve sort of left out. I never wanted it. But there are many discussions on this board that subject.

Oilfield is a little bit of an exception. Like a major gas compression plant. An oilfield service company may be dispatched for it.

OK is full of oilfield especially out west of OKC. It ain’t nothing unusual to have to pull over on 412 way west to let something by.

Windmills another. The gearbox/genset weighs 100k. Or, the 90’ blades.

You’re in a good location for either type job. But tanker will be more like the get home regular type job.

But how much fun is that compared to a 50-mph crosswind and a Giant wind turbine blade trying to take the shortcut across the treetops?

 

Yes, I was a system driver. No one ever told me I would make six figures there either. The other guy in this thread said that a GT driver told him he made six figures. I would have to see his w2 to believe it. No way that company is going to let a driver earn that much.

I would have to dig out my old w2's to see what I made there but it was not good. There health insurance plans suck. They were always shorting my pay. Since they only pay bi-weekly, another thing about them that sucks, I would have to wait another two weeks to get money owed to me. I never could understand how my check got shorted when they have their own actual app that you use to scan in your paperwork as soon as you are done unloading. Too many people back at Enid not doing their job.

 

I would love to see their w2's. I don't believe it. GT is too cheap to pay their drivers that well.

 

Here is a thread I started about them back when I worked for them. You can see I was sort of a cheerleader for them at first. As time when on, things kind of went downhill.
