Gross dollars/Per Mile dollars

I drive for my dad. We took june 2018 to march 2019 off and currently taking a month possibly 2 off. Its nice

 

I feel for those that just run spot market freight. My uncle still works where my dad used to be leased to. Dont bother asking i wont name names but a no tarp flat load 242 one way, 485 mile round trip paid 1250+250fsc. 3.09 on the round aint bad actually 2.40ish after carrier cut. 72% of 1250 still 900 + 250fsc 1150 not shabby and usually 35c or more off pump price. His wagon he pays road taxes and gives the same discounts on fuel as the mega lease ops. Only difference is the mega would be 1.30 on all mi and pocket the difference

 

It all boils down to the bottom line net, after costs. So many variables, different types of Trucking.Whats better $25.00 an hour 40 hrs a week. Or $23.00 an hour 60 hrs a week? The higher hourly job pays $1000 gross, The lower hourly job pays $1600 a week. Depends on the Individual, and their needs/ desires.Myself I’d take the lower hourly rate, with the OT. Others would take the 40 hrs a week.

 

If you quit taking time off you could afford your own truck, maybe 2 like your dad.
