Are you talking the trucks picking up or the ones hauling it to Michigan?Canadianhauler21 Thanks this.

I have thought about it too. I'm not sure what the best route for that is.
I think you mean those city garbage trucks right? I applied to many places even showing 3 years experience I don't get anything back. I get calls back for OTR work but not local. -
I’d caution you on those incorporated jobs. For a number of reasons.
I took a quick look and saw a couple of opportunities.
Trimac has an opening in Concord. Looks like they’re open to training guys to haul fuel. It’s nights and days though. 05:00/17:00 starts. $29.27 an hour. Apparently there’s parking at the rack at Keele & Finch.
YRC is looking for line haul drivers out of Mississauga. $21-28 an hour. $5,000 sign on bonus.
(If you did have to resort to highway work again).
Laidlaw has an openings for tandem end dump drivers. Short US runs, home most days. $300-325 a day.Canadianhauler21 and Magoo1968 Thank this. -

Did my first day as a DZ dump truck driver today (training atleast). The guy training me drives like a maniac. Constantly tailgating, frequently leaving the lane and cutting off cars and trucks. Trucks are 18 speed automatics, new trucks. Forward facing cameras.
It's something I can see myself doing, it's repetitive and there are no scales to deal with since it's all within the boundary of the GTA. I'll try it out for a while and see how it is. After training they pay $26 an hour.BigHossVolvo Thanks this. -
Like I said, they drive like raped apes. We had a fully loaded gravel truck blow through an 80 zone doing 120 plus, tboned a family, killed everyone. For a load of gravel? In Manitoba they are the worst drivers I’ve ever seen.BigHossVolvo and Canadianhauler21 Thank this.
