Heller is bad jurisprudence, regardless of the underlying issue. The decision is based off of cherry picked qoutes and twisted logic. It overturned 200 years of realitvily consistent judical rulings to advance an ideological viewpoint. Long term it will be viewed in the same light as Dred Scott, Slaughterhouse or Buck v Bell. -
The US obviously has the market cornered on homicidal maniacs. Just the norm to have weekly mass shootings and little to no criteria to qualify for gun ownership

I could list many decisions the court has made I hate. I did not care much for their Kelo v. City of New London decision, but I do respect it.Last edited: Jun 7, 2022

My guns haven't hurt anyone.PoleCrusher, Flint1, Sirscrapntruckalot and 3 others Thank this. -
However, Justice Stevens wrote in his dissent Heller is “unquestionably the most clearly incorrect decision . . .
announced during my tenure on the bench"
Chief Justice Warren Burger said the personal purposes interpretation of the 2nd amendment is a fraud.
The Repository of Historical Gun Laws Shows 1,000s of American laws restricting the time, place, and manner of gun ownership and possession. In 200 years, the Supreme Court ruled on the 2nd amendment once, in a rulling that upheld gun restrictions.
The same linguistics search engine that is the basis for overturning the federal mask mandate also contradicts Scalia's interpretation of how the founders used/understood the words in the 2nd amendment.
So, yeah, I feel I'm on pretty strong ground when I say the decision is flawed. -
Well if you want to get technical you could ban all motor vehicles. That should also prevent deaths. We could also ban aircraft and that should save a life from time to time. The same could be said for narcotic pain killers, since they are being abused and people are dying let's ban them outright. Oh, while we are at it let's repeal the 21st Amendment and go back to prohibition because there are many alcohol-related deaths a year. The point is when do you draw the line with banning things that legal law-abiding folks do or have. I am going to stand by my position that taking firearms from law-abiding folks is simply wrong.

I'm going to exit this debate. I think everything that can be said has been. Take care all!

If we would just outlaw murder, then all this would stop.
PoleCrusher and Sirscrapntruckalot Thank this.
