So what your saying is of law abiding citizens get guns with the laws your proposing, criminals can’t get them anymore?

 

This poses an interesting question...is the computer/internet the problem or is it the way people use it? Similar to guns and such I reckon. A hammer is a tool when used right. It's a weapon when you need it to be, good or bad. The internet in my opinion is good or bad depending on how you use it.

An I'm thankful for that. Freedom of religion, it's right there before the 2nd amendment. I mean, it's part of the reason people came to America. The right to worship as they please, amongst other things.

People have a right to their own beliefs. If you want me to respect yours, how bout trying to respect mine or others? Even if you don't agree. I may not share someone's religious views, but I'd also never deny them their right to worship how they please. An before someone calls me a godless heathen. , I have my own views and beliefs. I just don't choose to join one of the "major" religions. Most of those so called "men of God" would rather protect the church, than their own flock.

By the way, all you's are general and not directed at anyone.

At the end of the day, I can respect someone's views even if I don't agree with them. All I ask is the same in return, and to not force your beliefs on me. I won't come to your house, interrupt your lunch, dinner, whatever to ask if you have a minute to talk about tacos.

No, what I'm saying is most guns used in crimes I Chicago are purchased legally in other states and then resold on the street. They're not stolen or acquired from the Lord of War.

The store in question has been warned and put on probation several times for its behaviours - why does it still have a license?

Why is it so hard to hold gun traffickers accountable? These guns are bought from the point of sale "leaglly" and gun owners have no real rules about who they sell their weapon to. 10 stores represent more than 1/2 of the guns recovered from crime scenes in Chicago. Over 1/2 of the guns used in crimes in Chicago are less than 1 year old.

Even if we just enforced the laws we already have, it would reduce the number of weapons in the hands of criminals. If we got serious about it, and went after every gun dealer who coaches customers on how to get around paperwork requirements it would help, but not nearly as much as requiring ANY sale to be recorded and prosecuting anyone who sells a gun to a criminal.

 

I said I was not going to post anymore and I am finished with this topic. I just wanted to say I agree with you on the right to an opinion. I can sit and have a debate with the devil himself if he stays civil and does not start the name-calling. Trust me, I am currently living with a 30something female that is VERY opinionated. I have been known to stop a group from piling on someone that was expressing their opinion. I don't know fully what has happened over the last 40+ years, some blame social media and others blame bad parenting. However, people ON BOTH sides of a topic seem to have lost the ability to stay civil. As I stated earlier in this thread, I might not agree with your opinion, but I will fight to the death for your right to have it.

One last point on this subject. I have also started to take note that some people can't accept the statement let's agree to disagree. They are like a dog with a bone. An opinion is just that, an opinion. Your opinion holds no more weight than mine.

It is almost certainly the internet. Before the computer, people that had issues, usually made a little fuss, but were forgotten quickly, or locked away, when nobody else cared. Now, all of a sudden, those people have 400 followers, and perpetuates the situation. Like anything through history, everything has 2 sides. If we want to participate in what the computer has to offer, like this great site, we simply have to accept there is a down side. We make the call as to what's more valuable. It's kind of like pornography. Can't define it. It's not violent but it sure ruffles some feathers.
Religion? Boy, THAT'S a never ending argument, all hearsay. Faith? Good luck. I do agree with you, some people sure are adamant on how THEIR beliefs will save you, and when not interested, they go away. It's not a valid argument, but I can't resist saying, in these unstable times, "where's your messiah now, eh?"

Can criminals still get guns if let’s say stores get shut down for selling?


The store that are selling these weapons are doing it legally? If yes why haven’t the strawmen who purchase these guns and resell them get prosecuted? I can’t walk into a gun store across state lines and purchase a firearm without being a resident.

Can we enforce the laws we have on the books before we make new ones?

can we actually stop pretending that the issue is guns and not mental health?
