i have seen two rollovers at work. usually they are drivers going too fast through tight corners. one incident involved a car that was cutting into one our drivers lane. he took the shoulder and rolled the truck. i believe in that situation you need to keep the lane. if the car gets hurt, the car put themselves in that situation.

the one rollover, somehow the 5th wheel got torn from the truck, literally broke the pins. the truck and trailer weren't moving fast thank god. he was apparently backing into a driveway, missed the driveway and slid into a ditch, trailer was at least partially loaded and the weight transfer caused the trailer to roll over. it was the middle of the winter with iced over roads.

yes, as you cannot predict what'll happen at that intersection, it's all the same..you are driving with "assumptions"

my own boss is well aware of what happened at that intersection and he said i did nothing wrong. he actually called me to ask me how i was doing, and re-assured me that i did not cause it.

Passing is “at your own risk”. No one should have to backout of a hill for an impatient Driver. The passer is the one who should back out of it. A passing Vehicle is no different than a merging one. It’s up to them to adjust speed. Otherwise you get into the slowing down game. Both slowing down. That’s even more dangerous. The passing Truck was at fault. I doubt he learned anything. I’ve pi#### off a lot of 4 wheelers and Truck Drivers, by not slowing down. They obviously don’t know the rules of the road. Or have a Me First attitude, I could care less how important they think they are. I will at the very last minute,to avoid an accident. But that’s the only time.

OKAY, now.... let's lead in with this, then this ole'vampire driver needs a nap, LoL. Not chastising you, don't think 'any' of us old'er hands are.. BUT BUT BUT... lead in with your OWN experience.

1.) Drivers going too fast (tight corners or not) one was kinda being you today...sorry, but yep. Not 'yielding' to a tailgater counts, esp. with tanks... respect your load, ya know. IT WASN'T A CAR CUTTING INTO SOMEBODYS LANE but the CMV behind you cutting into the OTHER guys lane. Oncoming traffic.

IF THEY MADE CONTACT, YOU WOULD HAVE INHERENTLY ROLLED. Pretty dang hard to pull a tank into a ditch and not. Tanks don't normally 'slide' into a ditch, tbh.

2.) Another rollover you've been made privy to... Read your own words, "the T&T weren't moving fast thank god." See what we are trying to tell you here? IT DOESN'T MATTER that you were comfy in your 60 mph "zone" ... apparently he wasn't and he made his point for 5 to 7 miles.. at 60 that's 5 to 7 minutes you had to 'pro act'.

OUT HERE, WE HAVE TO BE PROACTIVE..... reactive doesn't always work, though many of us seasoned guys....have had a few where it did, through unfortunate events...faults nonwithstanding.

In looking at the list of people that have commented and liked on here, many of these guys have more years driving than 'I' even do; Six and Buddy come to mind. i'd listen to them BOTH in a heartbeat; actually I do. Six is like a trucker GOD to me, HH and years of experience. Buddy recently retired, tho I didn't chat with him much here through the years. Read his signature line; 48 years.. Yeah.

I'm sure 2 years feels good; just don't get overzealous. Re'read this whole thread, when you want to reminisce. Winter is coming.....Tanks aren't fun on ice.... at all. Following distace both FORE AND AFT WILL SAVE A LIFE.. perhaps yours.

Okay enough 'grandpa' ing .... Hope you've learned a bit from us ole' hands, that's all.

ps: Owning what happened TODAY is a step in the right direction; I don't recall the thread with the other scenario...too tired to look.

    Stay / BE safe.

Beg to differ. When 'Billy Big Rig' is trying to out pace you, and has even been on your 'arsk' for 7 minutes... prior... you just keep keeping on?!??! Well that's you. Not the general consensus. I'll still be the ole'gray hair guy in the long nose Pete to BACK DOWN ungoverned, to avoid inherent situations and trouble.... (and go back to see my family and my home and my toys...everytime.)

True the 'passer' was INITIALLY at fault, but the O/P trying to STAND HIS GROUND had no place in this scenario, IMHO.

Carry on guys. Vampire needs a nap.

    Tomcat out.

What I do on 2 lane roads.
When I see a driver come up to me and gets on my rear says that's he is faster than me.
I would get on the radio and say when you are ready togo around pull out and I will brake and let them by.
Sometimes I will wave them by but I usually wait till they make the first move
I don't want anybody tailgating me for any amount of time.

So the OP slows down, while the passing vehicle also slows down, now he’s blocking the passing Truck from falling back. That’s right up there with moving left, to let traffic behind you pass on the right.
