From what I’ve read you’re pretty much limited to Progressive and maybe a couple others for insurance with new authority. I’ve seen on here people talking about $20-30k for insurance their first year, I worked with a guy last year and when he got his authority he paid a little over $18k but I’m not sure who he went with. And honestly I’m not even sure you’d find anyone to write a hazmat policy for new authority.
staceydude Thanks this. -
I have had a progressive auto policy since 2002 (I don’t care what others say about them they have treated us well) I have also done some research on who carries insurance for new authorities and progressive is one of them. So I hoped my time with them will help my commercial quote. Now in the future after one or two years if progressive does t come off the price which they told me they would with more O/O experience I will hunt up other insurers.
They actually told me when I called to expect $17kish first year. I do have a ticket on there so take that for what it’s worth. My agent understands the industry and instead of the min $750k liability I am opting for $1 mil. I am adding Truckers GL which is fairly cheap and Trailer Interchange which is not bad either. The policy comes to over $18k + if I pay cash. $22k if paid out over 10 months. To tell the truth I had expected higher. That will vary depending on your location.
That being said the insurance is the easy part. I am only posting this here because I believe in paying it forward. I have had some tremendous help from a board member which I can never repay. I am in the baby step phases at this point.
