Swap red for blue, less than ideal, but better than nothing and beats waiting on a road call

All I run is old iron, wife asks why I'm under the hood and the truck so much. Easy, it's better to prevent and find problems and fix them here in the shop then on the side of the road. Plus, OOS is not only a PITA, but gives the insurance man an excuse to up your rates...

I keep one under the bunk, anyone that owns a n14 at this point has an injector starting to go, whether they know it or not

I recently bought a 1998 FLD120 with a 12.7 Detroit. 1200 miles to get it home. Spent its entire life in southern Louisiana so everything is dry/degraded/rotted/neglected. This is what’s been replaced or is being replaced so far.
    - 10 tires
    - 6 outer rims
    - 4 airbags
    - cab leveler valve
    - speed sensor
    - shift tower assembly
    - carrier bearing
    - spring bushings
    - one spring set
    -all fluids and filters
    - mirror brackets
    - shocks
    - torque arm

Here is the list of things to be done next week
    - door seals/hinges/strikers
    -interior door handle assembly
    - drivers seat belt assembly
    -new tach
    - One new/used dash panel
    - air valve
    - new motomirrors
    - wiper arms
    - wash and wax
    - new hood and bumper

List for the coming months if not sooner
    - ac compressor
    - air compressor
    - water pump
    - injectors
    - turbo and manifold upgrade
    - radiator/hoses/clamps
    - CAC
    - fuel lines
    - air lines
    - fuel pump

Some things were replaced before I bought it. A lot of this I’m replacing just because. I like to start with a clean slate so that I can track repairs and replacement. This was all cash flowed. My biggest expense besides fuel will be insurance (1300/month) and trailer payment (950/month).

Full paint job in the spring cause she’s old and ugly lol. Can’t wait to get started.

I went to a truck salvage yard Wednesday to get some cab fairings and other small things. I’ve never had to go to a junkyard other than to drop off stuff. I got to say, I enjoyed the heck out of it. Seeing all the old trucks. Getting to climb in the remaining FLD’s they had. It was fun. Going back soon for a few more things that I forgot to measure. It felt so old school. Also had such a feeling of accomplishment/usefulness if that makes any sense.
