Duramax are you out there? How did your training go?

 

Orientation week for me here at HOW. Will let you guys know how it's going. Two days of so far, mostly yard practice maneuvers. Test on them tomorrow. Road eval tomorrow, then if all goes well, trainer assignment and out on the road for a few weeks.

Great so far here. Everyone friendly, haven't met any unhappy drivers as they come and go. HOW is in a bodaciously small town, nothing to do but hang in the bunkhouse, but won't be here long. Company stresses safety and running legally. Seems like the right decision so far, updates to come!

 

Sounds great. I probably saw you there. We stopped by for the night. Did a quick run to Minneapolis today. I'll be done with my trainer tomorrow and will be back Friday. You can usually bum a ride into town with one of the other drivers that check out the company car.

 

Officially hired on today, supposed to be headed out to trainer tomorrow via bus ride to Alabama. 34 hour bus ride (ack), upside is he's running down south so there's a chance I may be able to stop by the house in Tampa and say hi to the wife and kids (if I'm lucky) much sooner than expected. Yep, I think I know exactly who you are after thinking about it and seeing the trainee pics downstairs Grats on finishing up with the trainer, Spike!

 

Weekly update, sitting at a shipper getting loaded. Trainer is also a recruiter, so ran around with him last week, got home a day. Drives his truck normally, but loads didnt work out so just had a rental car. In the truck and driving this week though, first time in a truckstop last night, first times loading unloading, its a week of firsts. Going well so far, probably out for two more weeks then back to terminal for final processing. Might even get home one more day before then, we'll see.

Good Deal.....I'm on my own truck now. Back in Florida for a bit then back on the road again. Everything is going great so far!

 

Keep us posted on your mileage and what not.... I live just south of you so I am curious how many miles you get and how your home time works out.
