Real quick and then I have to get but here is some replies to questions you had ...

I had a close friend at Wolding ... tried to get me on board but after some of the stories I heard I decided it was not a good fit for me. I did make friends with some of their drivers. They had a long lay over in Flagstaff (some for up to 5 days) and I visit with a few then went to calfornia and then came back and visited again.

The safety director was bought up because of a lack of respect he had with the drivers. I have no idea what is true or his story and I will not speculate on the real story but I know what some drivers have said.

I respectfully disagree about the BONUS money. I do believe it is your money as long as your performance warrants it. Some companies pay bonuses weekly. Which makes more sense. But it is a great policy for Wolding ... I know at the end of a quarter that is a focus point for a alot of drivers ... they know how many more miles they need to reach certain bonuses.

Enjoy ... I did not bring up the points in my other post to rain on anyone's parade but I thought it would be fair and honest to share both sides. Heck maybe I will work for them in a few years. ;)

Chip...what's your angle? If you never worked for wolding, why are you in here giving your opinions as facts for someone to base their decision on? Bram didn't ask you anything that warranted restating your 2nd hand info as you claim. You honestly sound like a disgruntled ex employee.

Luckily the people posting questions in here are intelligent enough to sum things up for themselves. Every company isn't for anyone. So its not for you, go your way then and quit trying to turn others away. You did same kind of negative reply a year ago when I posted questions and I'm sure glad I didn't listen to the likes of you. I'm very happy with wolding and I feel is the best choice I could have made. I've been treated well. Home time when I want and they are accommodating.

I think you have a chip on your shoulder as well as your chair.

Sitting in Bellemont, have a load going to CA tomorrow. To make things special none of the Pilot showers are working. So I came over to the Motel 6 and got a room. Just to let everyone know it's a good deal here. $32.01 total for the room. They give a discount if you have a CDL.

Gave the the dog a bath, did my laundry, got some bubbles and soaked in a tub. Now I'm channel surfing. I thought it was a pretty good deal and wanted to pass the info along.

Well Chip every great trucking fairy tale beings with..." Well I heard from one of their drivers"

it really means very little without all the facts to back it up. Just as the story of drivers sitting for 5 days. You throw it out there so people who read your post think its a common occurrence and you list no reasons why nor do you mention that after the first day they were paid $100 for each 24 they sat.

The problem with driver stories are some facts are always missing. Do you really think the bean counting penny punchers want to pay for a truck to sit for 5 days? I don't know why they sat, I can only speak from my experiences and as many times as I have been to AZ I have never sat for more than 48 hrs and that was only when I needed to get a reset in.

I think all sides should be covered good and bad however posting rumor doesn't help anyone at any company.

The reason I know these things is because a group of drivers sat for five days ... one was a good friend of mine.

You attacked me but not did not address the points I made. At least the other reply responded to the points I made and validated them but also added their perspective. If I lied point them out. Attacking me does not make your point ... it just muddys up the water. If I offended your company or made you feel your choice of company a bad one I am sorry. I prefer to know the whole story ... and not drink the kool aid.

My point about "bean counters" stands ... if they pay shop employees low wages it could affect safety ... especially if they drive tractors past 1 million miles that have smaller drive wheels and that use retreads on said drive wheels. It is a safety issue.

Quick question, WHAT DOES WOLDING DO WITH THEIR OLD TRACTORS? I don't see any on the road ... and I HEARD they were shipped out of the country because there was no value in the states for them.

This was a nice exchange of thoughts on a company's practice. I will not attack you in return or accuse you of motivates. Everyone should do their homework on any company. I never would reject information ... welcome any feed back about this industry to build my knowledge base. Sorry you feel the need to attack the messager ... feel free to address the issues ;)

I've reread my responses to you and I'm sorry if you feel I attacked you but I don't see it. No where did I say you lied. What I said was Every great story begins with I heard from another driver. I'm not even saying they would be lying, just that they don't always give all the facts. You nor anyone else will ever make me feel that I made the wrong choice in this company. It works great for me and I am happy here. It will not be the best company for everyone, people want and like different things.

i don't know when or why drivers sat for 5 days. When was it? What were the reasons they gave that they were sitting? How many were they? Sounds like it was a whole gang. Was it when the economy was slow? Or when freight prices were cheap? Was something going on with our customer out here that we brought out extra loads? When your sitting and waiting for a load the reasons your waiting don't matter to you, your just upset your not moving. However the why does matter! But I have never sat for that long. I'm pretty sure by day 4 I would be ready to strangle someone!!

the bonus is very important and yes many of us start those last four weeks knowing exactly how many miles we need to get it. We do agree however that it's performance based. As for it being weekly or quarterly I think that's just a business decision. Thinking about it just a little I think I would prefer quarterly. With the way I run I've had some pay weeks where my miles were less than 1700. I look at my check and freak a little and then the next check comes and I'm like YAY lets shop. It's just the way the runs work sometimes. I'm still getting the miles each day but the longer runs flow I to the next week.

ive talked to drivers very upset that they never get the big bonus, they can get the small and sometimes the middle but never the big one. The last one I spoke with was hot and heavy about it. After talking to him a bit more I learned he was in the middle of a divorce and only had his kid on the weekends. He had to be home every Friday night and could not go back out until Sun night or Monday mornings and he would only drive regional. It's just not possible to get those kind of miles driving 5 days a week. Our trucks are governed at 63mph so there is a limit on what can be done. Being out for two weeks in a quarter will make it almost impossible to get the big bonus.

You say paying shop employees low pay could affect safety, I'm sorry I just don't understand that. Are you saying their not doing their job properly because they aren't paid more? That they would put a drivers life at risk because they aren't making enough per hour? That's kind of insulting in my opinion. Our vehicle maintanence score is 12.3%. I'll let that speak for itself. I'm not saying mistakes don't happen in the shop, they happen everywhere. Again I have to say I have no idea what they are paid or if they should be paid more.

As for the million mile small tire trucks. I drove one for quite a while. Her name was Mavis, 1.3 million miles on her. She never left me on the side of the road and spent less time in the shop than some of the brand new ones. It was a good truck to learn with.

I'm not sure what happens with the retired trucks. Ive heard they were shipped to Africa but I've never asked anyone who would actually know. I can't imagine there is much value in them with the mileage but I've never looked into purchasing a truck. I guess I could ask when I go back to the yard.

So Chip do you have Oct off or does Halloween or change in seasons bring you here. Looking through this thread I noticed that you posted this same stuff last year... I am very wary of he said she said stuff... Second hand info from disgruntled employees does not sound like a smart way to judge a company... Plus I would like to know what alternatives do you recommend and your personal experience like who do you drive for and for how long. what struggles have you faced and what positives. Just coming in and not sharing the whole story makes you loose credibility. Please share.

I love LA traffic in the morning, yeah no, not really. Picking up load today in the bright warm sunshine of California then heading to Omaha NE.
