Hello everyone, Well if you go through my passed threads you will see my wife and I are on a mission to take on a new adventure in Teaming up and driving. We have tried a few companies out in the last couple months and I hope we have found a winner! H.O. Wolding has just placed me in orientation on November 26th. I have been with Wel Companies for a month and they didn't work, US Xpress I don't know what happened with that mess but I'm glad it didn't happen from what I read and hear, HOW seems like a good fit for us! I hope it all goes good and if anyone has any incite into this company please feel free to speak up. I have followed a few threads on this company and did not see anything to bad, they also have a very good safety score! So far in the last few days the people I have talked with have been very pleasant and honest? I as the experienced driver (8 years) will be starting out at .37 cpm after the 3 day orientation. My wife as the student will probably be in orientation Dec 4th and be making $450 a week as a student. I will be getting a truck the Wednesday or Thur. week of orientation, my wife will be going out with a trainer for a 3 or 4 weeks before we can team up. They said she will be local/ regional with the trainer and be put in Hotels every night? The one major problem I am having is that they require a driver to be with the company for 90 days before you can bring a pet? What do I do with my dog for that 90 days?! I guess we'll figure that out as time goes on. Anyways another chapter in the book of Jbkrash! If I have any followers keep an eye out on my posts I'll tell you about my / our adventures with HO Wolding. I hope everyone has a safe enjoyable weekend!!

I'm a driver for HOW its a decent company. Tell your wife to get plenty of rest before orientation. Training for women is a bit harder at HOW, tell her to plan for hard going 14 hr days. She will get a lot of backing experience which is very helpful but they are long tiring days. Not sure if I'll be in the yard while shes at orientation but will say hello if I do.

Oh tell her to listen to Butch, he'll teach her the important things she needs to know

Hello Bram, Thanks for the info. Are you in orientation now or have you been with them for a while? You say a lot of backing experience is this in their yard or otr? If you or anyone else have any other info about HOW or orientation feel free to let us know. We're anxious to hear anything about it good or bad! The recruiter mentioned that her training would be more local type driving and she would be in a hotel every night as they do not have female trainers? Thanks again Tori!

There's a thread over on the favorite companies section that I've been posting in over there for a while now, lots of info. So far, I have little to no complaints, great company, safety/family oriented, new equipment coming in as we speak.

Orientation is less than a week, you'll have as much time as you want to practice out in the yard. Breakfast and lunch paid for, dinner is reimbursed up to $10 I believe. If she's doing local, I would imagine she will become familiar with Chicago, but I personally don't think it's that bad. LA is worse in my opinion, traffic wise at least.

Thank you Weeble Kneeble I have been watching that thread you are talking about. It has been very informative! I was just asking for anything more people might have to add. I'm very excited to be starting next week. New equipment? Awesome! They only run Freightliners or do they have other equipment? Thanks again! Be safe everyone!!

No problem. Yes, only freightshakers. I believe they only have 3 (that i've seen) internationals and I've seen the same amount of O/O's. Congrats and good luck.

FSorry for the late reply. Local training for her will consist of a lot of runs between Neenah WI and Green Bay WI. She will get a lot of experience bumping docks. Local trainer is a great guy. I spent two weeks with him before I went out with the last female trainer.

I went through orientation in June. It starts on a Tues you will all go to breakfast with the head of safety.Just an opportunity for him to get to know you. Then you meet Fran and Butch. Fran will go over the yard exercises with you on a board he has with a toy truck. Then you will go to the yard where they will show you the exercises and explain in detail what they want.

Wed is spent practicing. Thur morning is practice and afternoon testing begins. Dont worey about the exercises in advance. They show you exactly how to do them. You will rhen do a road test. Not hard or long.

Fri is finishing testing then paperwork and trainer assignemnts.

    Hope this helps.

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! My wife received her CDL on Wednesday and just got off the phone with Carol at HOW. In asking lots of questions we found out allot of good info. Its nice to think how nice everyone has been so far at HOW? She told my wife that I am going to be the only experienced driver at orientation on Monday?! 2 student drivers will be starting on Tuesday. Wow I'm the only one starting Monday? Are they going to keep me busy or am I going to be sitting doing nothing all day? Do we run Paper logs or E-logs? Carol said they are changing over to e-logs and not all trucks come equiped? She told my wife she will be at orientation on the 18th of Dec. she thinks that after the 4 days of orientation my wife will probably be sent home until after Christmas and start her training then? I wonder if that's whats going to happen? She told her once she gets back for training expect to be gone OTR for at least 3 weeks with a male trainer because they have no female trainers at this time. Thanks for the info Tori, did you go to school at Eagle? The instructors at Eagle said they remember a Tori that went there and they thought she went to HOW? Anyways I hope everyone has a great weekend! Cant wait to meet all of you HOW employees in person! :biggrin_255:

All new trucks and some older trucks are elogs, the rest are on paper. I'm currently on paper but it's only a matter of time. Congrats on the CDL and I might be at the yard this week, who knows. Good luck on Monday!
