Glad to hear it everything is going well for you and welcome aboard. Fran is a good guy, but is definitely a different cat. Yes, you got a great dispatcher in Shawn. He's my dispatcher and we work real well together. You can almost guarantee you will get the big bonus because he will run you as long as you are willing. My very first week on my own he put 3500 miles on me. Very efficient and organized. Also doesn't believe in a sitting truck, which is good for us. Best of luck to your wife, and I hope you two enjoy it here. I've been here a year now and couldn't be happier. Safe travels driver.

Congrats and welcome to HOW, be sure to wave to us as we pass and if you see a couple together check out CB channel 4, its the one company drivers use to talk to each other. If you ever hear Hey Herbie where you goin on the CB their talking to you, it was a while before I knew they called us Herbies.

Well done on getting Shaun as a dispatcher he one of if not the best dispatcher in the company. I don't have him but have heard nothing but great things about him.

I've talked to the potential new female trainer and it looks like shes going to do it. Tell your wife shes lucky, I've learned more on the phone with this woman than I learned from any of the trainers I was with. Her biggest concern with taking on a student driver was that she would tell them to do something and the student wouldnt or would argue. She real big on teaching things the way Wolding wants it done.

LOL with Fran yep, thats him. If you can get him talking hunting or fishing you'll have a friend for life. He always comes across a little grumpy.

HOW is very good at not letting new drivers out on the road in their trucks if a student can't drive. They arent extremists about it but their not going to put any of their trainers at risk. If you've gone to school you should be able to shift gears and drive on the road, they know when the students come in that backing is hard for them and they do a good job of teaching it. They just know that they don't have the ability to start a student from scratch and teach them everything.

Again welcome aboard and drive safe

Hello everyone! Sitting at Antioch Tn waiting for a load, been waiting here at B&G for 2 hours and its still not ready this is a first for my Wolding loads. Anyways I figured I'd plug the old laptop in and give an update. Its been going Great! Started driving last Thursday with a 36+ hour reset over the weekend and I've allready logged over 1300 miles! Up until this load here everything has gone like clock work. I have been very happy with Shawn. I dont even get to my next stop and he has a preplan right in line for the next day! Everyone from office personal to drivers have been so friendly and understanding when a problem or question comes up.
Thank you Tori I'll give that channel 4 a go. I drove OTR about 6 years ago, amazing the change in CB chatter in 6 years. Back then you couldn't find a clear channel. Now you can't find anyone to talk too, I will try the channel 4 and see if I can find someone to talk to on some of these trips.
Well I'm going to head into the shipping office and see if they forgot about me?
I hope everyone is having a great safe day!!

Hello again! Boy was that B&G a messed up place. 7 am apt. I got there at noon and the load was not ready until 3:30. They load my truck and while i'm waiting I see a driver that was there earlier, well he was coming back to have his load reloaded he had almost 38k on his trailer axles and 20 something on his drives. So I took my load to the TA and I had 36k on my drives and 24 on my trailer. 39 skids 28 heavy ones in the nose double stacked 11 skids of taco shells on the rear single stacked. While they were reloading me they went on break. I was there from noon to 7 pm! My apt to deliver is at 6am in Indiana near Ft Wayne. Dispatch is going to call to get a new apt time for me in the morning. Be warned about that B&G in Antioch Tn. If you have a load over 30k I'd get it scaled! I'm taking my break at the Loves exit 16 in Indiana thats as far as I got on my hours, 273 miles for today plus a couple hours of waiting pay. That'll work! :biggrin_25523: Good Night folks drive safe!

Never done that load before. Only B&G I have been to is in Madison, but it's drop and swap there. That's bad though as far as weights go. Even the water loads aren't that bad. But what happened to you seems like a once in a blue moon as far as waiting, I haven't been to many customers where I've sat for much more than 2 hours, except for maybe those floor loads, but I haven't had one in a while.

Anywho, hope your still enjoying it and have fun!

Hi folks. Well I'm at home this weekend again. On my own choosing. I had an Uncle pass away and I am home for the services. He was a great guy he will be missed! Besides that all has been really good at Wolding! I'm very happy still. Although I had my first experience with the mechanics at Amherst yesterday. I have been having problems with my Opti Idle and would wake up freezing my butt off so Shawn routed me in to the shop. I arrived Thursday night and slept in the truck. Woke up Friday and scheduled the truck to get fixed. Well they took it in right away and by 11:00 it was out of the shop and done? No body actually told me it was finished and I noticed a few of the small extra's I asked for were not complete. So I called Scott (head mechanic)and talk to him. He saw no notes on any work that was done so he said after lunch they would bring it in. So 4:00 I called the shop and said how much longer. They say should be done around 6 we'll let you know. 7:30 rolls around and I take a stroll around and here is my truck sitting outside with all the work done! They never called me! I had a pre plan ready to go at noon, to come home. So I didn't leave Amherst until 8:00 and arrived home at midnight.
They did a good job on all the stuff I needed worked on they just have a bad way of letting a driver know his truck is ready to go. Next time I will keep on them. I was worried I might be a bother if I called them all the time, turns out I should have kept calling I would have been home several hours earlier. The on going none joke I've heard now at Amherst if your going their for work on your truck plan on sticking around a couple days.
So total for me for my first week at Wolding Sunday thru Friday is almost 2000 miles for the week. I'm very happy with that. I can see that because of a couple hick ups earlier in the week not in my dispatchers control and with me needing some home time I could get lots of received allot more miles! So there we go I'm still happy with Wolding has been a great experience!
I hope everyone has a great weekend and please be safe out there! :biggrin_255:

That's the only thing that has given me trouble is the photo opti idle. It will work for a certain period of time, and then the truck continues to run without blowing air or anything until it gets to the set temperature. They've changed batteries, checked connections, changed the thermostat... nothing. This only happens in the cold weather though. So my next PM I'll be writing it up at again. I hate wasting fuel as I like to skip fuel solutions if I can.

As for the shop, it didn't take me long to figure out to try and get it done either at night or on the weekend. Less people, and I like having Luke and the boys working on the truck. I know whatever I ask will get fixed and Luke calls the bunk house when it's finished, usually before they even it pull it out to park it.

Sorry to hear that about your uncle. My grandfather passed while I was out in Arizona this past spring. As soon as my reset was up, Shawn had me dropping and hooking all the way home to Maine in 5 days, no questions asked. Great, great people to work with at Wolding.

Looks like I missed you by a couple of hours, I got in at 6 but got my car and ran to the store, I was in Friday night for PM and work on the truck.Left this morning in the snow, almost made it to Kansas City, ended up half an hour short of my delivery.

Shop is supposed to let dispatch know that your truck is done and then dispatch passes the word to you. Sometimes the day shift will call the bunkhouse to let you know its done but if your not inside when the phone rings you'll never know they have called. It's not a great system.

I'm like Webble, I try to get it in at night or weekends. Being female that makes things harder for me. Women are not allowed to sleep in the bunkhouse so I have to stay up til its done or its midnight, then they will pull it out so I can sleep in it but I have to be up early for them to take it back in. For me its worth it. Luke does a great job. The day shift has so much going on lots of things seem to get lost.

If you have an older truck, you can usually count on an overnight there when their working on it. I can't say enough how well they take care of my truck.

Sorry to hear about your uncle. I hope you and your family find comfort in this difficult time.

Hello everyone! Thank you Weeble and Bram! Weeble sounds like you have my truck? 1238 is my truck number. That is the same problem I have been having. I'll wake up in the middle of the night with the engine at high idle and it's 40 degrees in the truck. So lets hope they found the problem. I'll find out tomorrow. I went to my Uncle's service today and am sitting on a load to go about an hour from my house with a 9am apt. I'm planning on staying out this week as long as I can until Christmas. I'm hoping for over 2500 miles. In about 3 weeks I want to have my dog with me in the truck and that's a $250 certified check or money order?? Whats up with that? They wont take cash or personal check for that deposit? I also have to get my dog shots taken care of in a couple weeks. Money is very tight with my family I cant wait to get these checks rolling in. Anyways again thanks for your input and condolences for my Uncle! I hope we all have a safe great week!! :biggrin_25514:
