OP .... A small firm is where you need to head. Some place where a level headed owner is the same guy who hires you. Tell your story, do not whine, as you have not here. Have the Police Report also. Never omit that former employer from an app. I may hire you with a bruised DAC, but will fire you if I catch you in a lie.

Apply at Covenant, they take everyone. Thus, they should take you.

Go to a Ma and Pop company, explain this to them, and they should see that you did all within your power to do as needed.

You have to put down your previous employer on an application for another driving job, as most applications state you must list your last 10 years of driving experience.....and that may because it is in the FMSCA rules somewhere...I am not sure on that.

If it was DOT reportable (which, since a tow-truck was required, it was) it'll show up on your PSP. I'm not sure whether it'll actually count for any CSA points, however, since no citations were issued.

If you didn't hit the shoulder they would have said you didn't have a plan of escape and gave you a preventable.. You were screwed from the start.. good luck.. MNDriver is talking legally not preventable and nonpreventable.. either way you would have had a major dot preventable.. maybe not as bad.. I will say this in MNdrivers defense.. I had a dot officer tell me one time when I was the first on the scene of a 4 wheeler big truck crash.. always trade paint... If you are going total one out to avoid it trade paint... You did though so you are just screwed my friend.

Someone keeps saying the dot officer said it was non preventable at the scene.. They don't determine preventable accidents at the scene right then.. They do test and measurements and send it to the state office of that district.. In texas all they will give you on the scene is at fault tickets.. or no ticket meaning you were not at fault.. BUT NOT BEING AT FAULT DOESN'T NOT MEAN IT IS NON-PREVENTABLE

Could this accident maybe have been prevented by merging at a little faster speed? About 30mph merging into 60 mph rush hour traffic with a wet road to boot can get interesting. Best of luck vety, hope you find a good company.
