Hello everyone. A couple of years ago I had a compression fracture in a couple of my vertebrae. It was a freak accident that happened outside of work, so I spent 3 months on short term disability, not workman's comp. They were relatively minor fractures, and they healed fully with no surgery, fusion, or any of that, just rest. I was cleared to go back to work by my doctor, but had to have a return to work physical, and renew my DOT physical at the same time, so obviously I had to put that on my self reported medical history on the MERF. I was still able to get a 2 year card. I have no pain, no meds, nothing. I was hauling fuel at the time, but I want to go back to flatbed, so my question is will a flatbed company hire me with that in my past? Anybody have experience with this kind of thing in the past, that could fill me in on how this will go? Thanks.

Considering your DOT card is issued for 2 years with knowledge of the injury, there doesn't really seem to be anything they could refuse you for. If they give you a physical capability test, and you're not able to pass it, that would be a different issue, and people with medical cards don't pass, that's why they give them in mostly mega flatbed companies. They want the right to disable your healthy body.
