Had to pick up a tank load of whiskey from a "historic" distillery in Tennesee a while back. The only way to get there was a bunch of 16' and 18' wide roads with no shoulders, just 4' drop offs on each side.
Luckily I made it in and out without killing anyone. However, by the time I got back to the main roads, my seat was chewed up beyond repair and I was thirsty as hell.
had to take a longer route today.

Nothing can piss you off like seeing your directions putting you on a dirtroad

App what App. I have a compass on my dash.
tinytim Thanks this. -
We are issued a compass as well, but after 3 months we are also issued a new sextant and a corresponding training course. And no. A sextant does not have anything to do with sex.
MidWest_MacDaddy and 6daysontheroad Thank this. -
That said, it seems like a very strange way for them to route you. Depending where you were in Indy 231 or 37 would be the better choice. -
It is not intended as advice. I once complained to MY trainer in the middle of my god illinois on a US highway full of stop lights when a interstate is 15 miles over here.
My trainer cursed me out for being weak, he made sure Im in the stop lights all day to hammer out weaknesses in my shifting that he was working on as a goal.
That was back in the 80's Culture was quite different back then.
There is however one road that got me was the OLD, OLD US 30 which is right about north and west of Gettysburg. Here I am with a honking 102 inch tipping over the edge on this side and hanging over the yellow lines on that side, swerving around every stinking mailbox and sign post... at 10 mph for a few miles to the old apple shipper. Whoo. I aint doing that again, Im not talking about the big new US 30 that goes to the town sqaure in GBurg but actually the old old branch that goes off it onto pavement laid like back in 1920 with the little plates making you seasick.tucker Thanks this. -
Last time I took their route...residential, powerlines, trees, parked cars, etc. Stupid.

Speaking of dirt roads. Maybe you EX FFE can help a old friend out here?
Town of Fallston Maryland. Goal, load in a Nursery.
You run up into this town on 4 lane highway, turn off onto a two laner to the left when heading east into the outskirts of Fallston there is a two lane road that is pretty good you follow that down into a valley of sorts turn left again about a mile and change onto a blacktop road about 12 feet wide maybe 14. The mental strain kicks in when you see a last turn that goes into the forest clearly marked and matching directions from two sources. so you take this dirt road and off you go into the forest. (It was there turning around meant imagining the wheels under the rig because the bush was man high and you had nothing on the lower half anywhere on the rig to work with while backing.
I tell you want of you little faith.... -
But I too got into trouble doing so and ended up getting stuck when I pulled off to allow several cars to pass me... So while the experience was actually fun for me, and met a few awesome volunteer firemen who were able to help me get my rig going again, it may not be an experience just any driver wishes to experience.
In this case, I don't believe the OP was "complaining"... Just seeking advice and support from his/her fellow Drivers.Last edited: Jul 2, 2016
