Drove for few east european companies and I was always allowed to take any route I wanted as long as it wasn't toll road.I am allowed to take toll roads too if there isn't other way or going around wouldn't make sense. In fact I often go to FL lately and I always take I 57 instead of I 65 or US 41/63 even though it's the longest route miles wise but most comfortable IMO.

Took a peek on Google earth and can confirm 39 is narrow as all get out. Can't say I'd have turned around but I'd have been cussing everything and everyone.

US 250 from Cadiz to the WV line is a real hoot if you're ever so inclined. Be sure to do it when loaded heavy.

Make that journey at night, its easier to tell when vehicles are coming your way in the blind corners. AND you won't get so nervous when you see the back of your trailer in front of you going around those curves.

And OP; if the OOR of running 65 down to 64 is a problem with your company, 37 out of Indy to the future 69 isn't a terrible way to go.

My very first time was at night. The second time was during the day.

Yes, I've done it twice. I have the IQ of a gnat.

That photo reminds me of the time my company sent me to a tire repair shop in Eagle Pass Tx. I could not see any way to drive into the place.

The guy working there told me trucks had to drive a mile down the road then take the pedestrian jogging path behind the street. The thing was a wooden pier built over a lake.

I had my doubts but so what? If anything happened it was the company that sent me 50 miles to these guys in the first place.

I could tell it had been a while since their last 53 foot trailer went through due to all the tree branches I had to trim getting into that place.

Yeah, those wood roads are common as lease roads getting to oil rigs in swampy areas. Things get interesting when you meet another truck. You have to figure out who has the easier and safer back to the last pullout.

By the way, one of my all time favorite trucking movies is Sorcerer. Directed by the guy that did The French Connection. You might get a kick out of it.

My first time I thought so too. Planks aren't quite nailed down secure, if you know what I mean. They keep creaking and popping up as you go over them. In the rain they are slick, but fortunately any hills are mounded dirt and gravel.
