    It can detect drug usage from much longer back. I dunno for sure how long but I've heard numbers in years.

    They take a sample of your hair, and test it for evidence of past and current illegal drug use.

    If drug testing is a big concern, than maybe trucking isn't the right career path.
    We are tested every two years for our DOT physical, at every trucking company PRIOR to employment, as well as randomly throughout the year once we are employed. If it is a possibility that you will not pass, than try McDonald's.
