Handheld CB?

    do you recommend them? What do you think the range of them are? I searched another topic talking about them but no one mentioned the disadvantages.

    They are ok to have someone out on foot spotting to get you around and for backing up, other than that, not much range.

    poor antennas are the starting point, limited power/time from whatever the batteries are.
    If you get one with a car power cord, and can hook it to an external mag mount antenna, then it is better than nothing. Good for hearing, but don't expect to be heard very far.

    Hand held CB's have short little antennas that really hinder their range to very short distances.

    Very short range, hard to hear over the normal noises in a truck.
