Handing over a Cell phone to LE ?

Fortunately, the back-water hicks that made that ordinance weren't responsible for the FMCSA rules.

 

I don't get it, I'm upgrading to one of those for Christmas, much lighter than the one I've been using.

 

In Indiana I am not alowed to take your phone (Like our texting and driving law) so I could care less. Here you are not allowed to text and drive but you can check e-mail play a game and what ever you want just not text. Unenforceable so we dont screw with it.

 

Just hand them this one..

 

And yes I always wear a suit while driving, who doesn't?

 

One of my first, if nothing else I could chock the wheels with it, that pig wasn't rolling anywhere. Hand it to the state trooper and drop it on his foot, he won't ask again.

 

Where I live at my dad knows a few of the cops and they were telling him they are starting to carry this little thing that if the bluetooth is enabled on the phone it will download EVERYTHING from the phone and they can see the text messages and phone calls..... I can see that being very bad in some cases but in others very useful.

 

I haven't seen the bluetooth version yet, but this is the one most departments who are willing to use the authority are using.

I also find it funny the tough guys who say they are going to tell a cop what he can or can't do (especially our supposed former TN deputy). The ability to search a cell phone has already been upheld in court, the only court left which can overturn it is the US Supreme Court. In most states this can only be done if you are arrested, but California is one of a few states which during a routine traffic stop CAN search your cell phone WITHOUT a warrant. Don't like it? Good, start writing your reprentatives, and fire them at the election booth when they fail to do their job.

There is a reason we have a system of checks and balances. In the event that our "judicial system" (funny as hell to think it's about justice. It is possible for the executive and legislative branches to circumvent the bad decisions of the judiciary. This won't happen though, because instead of working smart we have people who talk crap about what they will do.
