The more times that your company bails out the shipper The less incentive he has to do his job right..

Did the right thing 100% .. We live in a world filled with people looking for a payday. U not only risk ur career, but u risk ur freedom, running beyond elogs in todays world... not worth it even if they pay you a #### ton of money extra ... no dont ever get sucked into that game.... Some guys will do it... like i said , u risk ur freedom..... If it happens again, tell ur dispatcher ur gonna discuss it with safety before u make a decision. Bet that conversation makes a 180 before u hang up the phone

NEVER do a favor for a dispatcher unless you're good friends and know you'll get the favor returned. They will say and do anything to get a difficult load covered and they will NEVER return the favor. They get paid more to cover those crap loads, and you get nothing.
D.Tibbitt, Canadianhauler21 and TripleSix Thank this. -
Doing dispatchers a favor went away when load planners
Took over the loads.
It's a one way favor now, since the dispatcher has to
Ask the load planner for loads.
A long time ago, the dispatchers had the loads.
They'd call the driver up, hey I need a favor.
Ok, cool, what is it.
I need you to pull a all nighter and make it to Atlanta
In the morning.
After you deliver that load in Atlanta I got a pre loaded
Trailer going to San Diego, open delivery window.
You can stop by the house in Phoenix on the way.
Give me a call in couple of days and let me know
When to look for a load out of San Diego. Thanks.
Man I miss those favor loads.
Do a dispatcher a favor and you could pick
And choose your next load.
Those days are long gone.
There's no in it for the driver anymore.
You done the right thingCanadianhauler21 and homeskillet Thank this. -
If you can call in the favor great. Log it when you did the favor. Yet if they are Ayy holes and forget that you did a favor and they cant help you? Remind them of it the next time they ask for it. No point in helping them if they are blind on your needs as well.
Canadianhauler21, Cattleman84 and homeskillet Thank this. -
Years ago before ELDs, I had a dispatcher ask if I would run double log books like the other drivers, (small fleet) and I politely said that I did not want to. I never heard any more about it and I ran as many miles or more than anyone.
Canadianhauler21 and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Was told I should’ve sat in a long washout line while being short on my 14. Washout wasn’t at a truck stop; so I bugged out. I called logs and rebutted to dispatch what logs told me; don’t run out if there’s nowhere to park or no time to get to parking.
Canadianhauler21 and skellr Thank this. -
Backbinbthe comic book days I would have done it... But no way would I do that in todays ELD world.
Rubber duck kw and Canadianhauler21 Thank this. -
