They took all that into account. -30 is -30 sitting in parking or driving down the road at 65. The red coolant is rated for about -30. People like to say I was in -40 but in reality it was not that cold that was wind chill temperature that does not affect your truck.

People like to say I was in -20 did not idle truck. If someone is in actual -20 the engine oil is not even rated for that cold unless your running synthetic oil

Agreed what I am talking about is very cold situations. Yes the engine wont freeze but the winds cause heat flow problems. I drove for many years sometimes in temps well below 0. My engine did not freeze because there was a good antifreeze in it. However I still had to cover up the grill so I could get the engine temp to show on my temp gauge.

Idling a any diesel is truly not the healthiest thing even if raising the RPM up a little. That doesnt help much since its not under a lode. Main reason for the big companies is the fuel cost. They dont real care about longevity since the swap them out often

Idling the engine and keeping tanks full is your best bet in extreme cold. I would say that's anything below 15F real temperature. The anti gel stuff is $20 a bottle.

If you can even find number 1 think they told us to put 25 gallons in each tank that stuff is not cheap. So idleing is the cheapest and best option because then you don't need to buy anti gel. Then if you get say -8 or colder I might even idle and add the antigel but I would not shut the engine off.

I think you will do a lot more damage to the engine trying to start it at -8 then just idling all night. Unless your running synthetic oil that can flow at -8 or -15.

Keep it simple just idle an stay warm and comfortable

    Yes...it was a misprint.
    1. - Some 12v inverter's, can't handle a full sized electric Blanket...what's the solution?
Many, don't want to drive in these conditions which in WHY many don't drive up north.

ANYWAY, how...does one solve the problem of C####py 12V company inverters?

Easy. Don't work at a company that doesn't spec and outfit their equipment properly and doesn't appear to respect their drivers very much.

I.e. Just say "No". Eventually they'll figure it out.
