O/O took me a few yrs to realize only way you get a raise in trucking is to go at it alone. I started out in 1991 making 850.00 Take home . 20yrs later in taking home 950.00 . Seems like every yr there is another company expense being charged back to the driver. Trip Pak biggest scam in my opinion. $7 a week 200 drivers that's 1400.00 week in Revenue to the company . You can't tell me it cost 1400 x 52 or 72,800.00 for the service. And this is just 1 example. So I went O/O I have way more financial freedom and home time. Trucking as an owner operator feels like it did in 1991 for me . New and adventurous. I lost that feeling in 2000. I got it back as an O/O in 2009. Chasing money is so much more relaxing and fun than chasing miles that you have no control over.

I’ve been an o/o for one and a half years out of 25 years driving and I’m having a blast I enjoy going to work and it’s rejuvenated my interest in trucks I won’t say I’m financially better off especially after you count the advantages of pto, health insurance, social security and workman’s comp but I can’t imagine going back to having a bean counter telling me I’m not doing the job right
