That happened to me once, years ago. I left my license in Colorado, at a mom and pop truck stop I think in Frederick, to get fuel, and didn't realize it til I got to the scale and got inspected!!! I knew my driver license number by heart so that's what got me through the inspection UT the lady working at the truck stop was gracious enough to mail it to my house with no problem. That actually is common practice all over the country. It seemed to ramp up several years back when fuel first started to approach 5 dollars a gallon.
