This is a gravity feed system so if the tank is mounted level with or below the generator you need a fuel pump.
It only works with tank mounted higher then the generator.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -

I wasn’t able to find a remote start for the 2200, only 3500 and up. Also need to choke it sometimes. I’ve seen some with remote, claiming easy start, ( no choke) or auto choke maybe, not sure. I like that idea for running a heater in wintertime. YouTube reviews on 2200 claim best to replace spark plug with auto lite. Mine was hard to start sometimes.

I'll probably just engineer something myself for the remote start.
If the 2200 has a charcoal canister like the 3500, get rid of it. One time overfilling the gas tank and it fills up the canister with gas. Then it runs rich, smokes and plugs up the spark arrestor. I just routed the gas tank vent hose outside the enclosure and blocked off the hose going to the air cleaner.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Yes it is
But it’s not always possible to mount the auxiliary tank higher than the generator.
Also if you have a catastrophic fuel line failure there could be the danger of a fire with the gravity system feeding the fire.
Now the Honda generator counterpart has a built in fuel pump and will still draft fuel when the auxiliary tank is level or below the generator.
Just the difference for people to be aware of.PE_T, Scottyotty1, lilillill and 1 other person Thank this. -
So I picked up the Westinghouse 3700 to replace my Champion 3100 generator. The Westinghouse is better in almost every way. It is easier to disassemble, has a larger fuel tank, more power, an LED interface with data like run time and fuel gauge, and the plugs have rubber or plastic covers so stuff won't get inside of them.
The one problem I've had is that the auto choke function doesn't work very well. The Champion worked great up until I got road salt and slush in it. I'm going to have to see if it needs to be lubricated, or change a spring, or if it's something I can diagnose and fix. If I have to manually choke it, that defeats the purpose of remote starting. It's not a deal breaker since I go out to plug it in anyway.bzinger, blairandgretchen, 77fib77 and 2 others Thank this. -
Anybody ever use a propane generator?
Stray_Dog Thanks this. -
Unless you were getting the tanks filled somewhere per gallon, the cost of exchange tanks would be crazy. I think most generators between 3-4k kw only run about 10 hours on a barbecue tank.
Then you'd also be prohibited through a lot of tunnels. -
10 hrs!!
Wow that’s not going to work
