I've noticed a few drivers here like to run hard and take a reset every week. While others prefer to just run for 8hrs or so and rarely take a reset. What are the pro's and con's of each style? How do you run and why?
Hard and fast or slow and easy

Well driver it's not like anyone wants to burn their clock out. It's the way the loads are given to you and if you have enough time to take it easy or if you gotta haul butt. When I drove for the bigger companies I would try to drive 8-9 hours a day so I would have hours left at the end of the week. Now that I drive for a smaller company I generally have to run like a raped ape with his hair on fire half the time. I prefer to take it easy but if the freight has to get there it gets there...that's my job bottom line
heyns57, Saddle Tramp, zebcohobo and 2 others Thank this. -
Id rather get there and be done with it. Or atleast get over half way before I sleep.

I get paid for resets that are not at home so its to my advantage to max out the 70. I make more money that way. Company pays for a hotel too so its a nice break from the truck.

I tend to run hard. It's just the way I've always done it. Depending on the pu/del times, I'll run as far as I can the first day, as an example. That way if something unforseen comes up, Ill have the extra time to deal with it. I can tear up a logbook pretty well in 6 days.
rocknroll nik, heyns57 and zebcohobo Thank this. -
hey I crushed my 70 in 5 days....I actually had to go back and touch it up good thing I use loose leaf!!!

hey man when I was running hard I was running hard...I busted jacksonville florida to detroit and then round tripped it again in less than 5 days. when I got to detroit on the morning of the 5th day I told dispatch that I was gonna need at least 10 hours just to figure out my log book
It took me one and a half days to get up there one day back reloaded the next morning and I rolled back to Detroit by the next afternoon. I was hauling let me tell ya.
