Hello, my name is Peter and a former military member. I got out honorable to answer your question, and I am currently in school for my CDL. I want to be in a flatbed division, and im stuck between Prime, Roehl, and Werner. And I was wondering with some drivers or fellow drivers have to say about each companies flatbed division. I can read all there ads, but I cant read everyone's personal interaction with the company. So any knowledge would help.

Out of those 3 choices I would choose Roehl everytime and wouldnt even consider the other 2. If I were you a second or even first choice might be Maverick instead. I have never drove for any of those companies so my choices are based upon what I hear and see.

Those 3 choices only? Roehl.

Roehl for sure.

Do a search for "Werner Trainer Craps Himself".

My buddy out of school has a brother who's been OTR for 10 years and currently drives for Roehl and has tried to get him to go to Roehl for almost a year now. For what its worth.

Look at TMC too

I wouldn't make a career decision based on what others say. They are all decent companies and have been around a long time. Yes they are large companies and you will be treated like a number, so goes any large company.
Make a list of your wants and needs and see which company is going to best meet those criteria. Once you have narrowed your choices down to a dozen or so then start calling the companies and speak to their recruiters. Once again make yourself a list this time with questions of which you would like to ask them about their company.
If it is of importance to you, you may also check the safety ratings of these companies.
Welcome to the forum and good luck to you.

If your set on flatbed, then look at TMC, as they have the Military Apprenticeship program through the VA where you get paid your BAH for a year. I'm going with Con-Way Truckload, them, Schneider and Werner and Old Dominion also are certified from the VA for this program, which should give you around another $1,000 a month tax free for your first year working.

You may want to check out McElroy Truck Lines. I went with them right out of school and stayed with them for 2 & 1/2 years until I went local with Bluelinx. I had no problems with them and if I ever went O.T.R. again I would go back.
