I'm going to add something here. Now is also not the time to be trying to break into trucking. I keep seeing new members asking advice about getting a CDL and how is the economy affecting us and are there jobs out here. I feel like I'm answering the same question over and over again.
Companies are still downsizing and hiring is slow. Even if a wannabe is able to find a job chances are they won't get good miles.
Now I don't know everything, and you may go to school, get your CDL, land a fantastic job, and make me a liar. But I do know that many many good experienced drivers are out of work. I do know that wannabes with prehires are being told by the companies who gave them the prehire "we don't need you after all, you're SOL" after they graduate and have to pay back a school bill with no job. I do know that my company (Swift) is planning to continue shrinking their fleet. I do know that I am currently sitting in Detroit with nothing to do over the holiday weekend.
Ignore all that if you wish. But don't say you weren't warned.road dust, doubledragon5, panhandlepat and 2 others Thank this. -
I'm thankful that Watkins told me my prehire wouldn't be valid any more before I spent the money for school: others as you said were not so lucky. It would have bankrupted us right now.

i have a buddy of mine that finished training a month ago.
he was "forced" into team driving. they are ONLY making solo miled loads -
My trainer who trained me at Swift (also a good friend) quit a few months after me. Why? Well he made almost 70K his last yr, then was only getting 500 miles a week with a student..

I'm not calling you a lair but that's hard to believe. Have a good day gal. Danny

Truck drivers never lie.
Scarecrow03, panhandlepat, GAPrincess and 1 other person Thank this. -
Wow!
A trucking company told you the truth and didn't lead you on, thereby costing you thousands of dollars?
Now that is WEIRD.
-
truck drivers are like dispatchers, they only lie when thier lips move
