Thanks guys I will keep looking, I was told maybe the big companies might take a chance on me, I'm currently working a on call job usually once or twice a week, but it will take a while to move up the seniority list. I need some steady income.

what is your on call job? might want to see if you can go down to the hall and supplement your "on call/casual" status job with another union job, that way you have steady money invested into the pension and h&w funds. it doesn't even have to be a truck, talk to the local that you trained through, and ask them if they have any warehouse jobs, or maybe dairy plant, or whatever. and if they don't, ask them what locals in your area do.

in the long run, i think you will be happier once you have some seniority and you are home every day with decent pay. going otr would be a step backwards, imo.

Don't forget the back door. As in, hiring on for a dock position or warehouse/forklift job. Then one day, a driver calls in sick, and bamm, you get to fill in for him, since YOU have a CDL and the others don't. This works well for companies with 10 or 12 trucks.
