Talk to the school you contracted with. Asking that question here is just a waste of your time, unless you just wanted opinions.

There is supposedly many agencies that say they will help, you will have to empty out your wallet and bank accounts just to talk to them. It is the most frustrating and hardest thing I have ever done, Thought it would only be a few months, then a year, then it drags out longer, but someday it will end and then have to get back to work to get the retirement hopes back knowing that after a few decades will have to start at the bottom again. Oh, and the family that says they will help...good luck with that.

Generally a person's assets has to be below 2000 dollars in total. Essentially SSdI, SS or Pension income each month or nothing at all. (SSI is excluded under federal law should someone have care assigned, there is a second person given a role of judiciary over that patient (The parent etc) and controls the money.)

Once a person is committed or assigned under orders to a care facility, whatever income that person has is taken by the facility. (ALL of it) Nothing other than SSI is provided to that patient from that moment on.

People have to be near broke with nothing. That is the reality in this Country. You are not allowed to retain your standard of living etc. Everything is converted over to the State in a manner of speaking before they lift a finger and assign someone or a facility.

The only exception is that someone is in hospital after a grievous accident that destroyed too much of their body and or mind and they are committed to a nursing home or some form of what they call advanced care or Hospice is brought in.

Generally a elderly person in decline trying to live at home that has been paid for in 20 years with a horse farm and all the things built over lifetime, they are on their own and have to pay for private caregivers at 20 a hour over 24 hours 365 etc. Until all of that is depleted, house sold and so on and all gone below 2000 only then will the next stage kick in.

Many families fail under caregiving over a period of time. Simple economics draining combined with exhaustion among other things. My relative he is in a assisted facility with nothing. A few years ago he was his own man, independant in all things including finances. Poof. It did not take long.

Some of us do what is needed, I have a special words for them state agencies and family members who only think of stripping all assets from the older parent and caregiver. I hate this but I would hate what would of happened if I did not do what I started. All these people I am dealing with preach they are great Christians and since I am not a church goer I am evil, I do not care on that. It will come to a end eventually and I expect nothing, want nothing. I will not throw away another person for my gains. Really there is some times that I regret doing it, but then I see what will happen if I step away, them idiots will take everything and throw her out on the street. Not going to happen, have a memory care place lined up with her faith, will give them all her assets to care for her. Then I can move on knowing that hopefully I did the right thing.

I've found that the directors of these schools can be very understanding ppl. Go talk to them and let them know what's going on, and see if they'll let you go back and finish when the crisis is over. It may be possible for you to finish, and get a local job. As for letting you out of the contract, it's not likely. Your choice is probably going to be finish and get your cdl and hopefully put it to work in the near future, or pay out of pocket.

In relation to the topic, I should Remind the OP that it is good to take care of family, the parent etc. You can always go back to trucking. With nothing if that happens and start over again. Many people have nothing in Orientation. Sometimes I think some of those rely on weekly orientations to get food. I don't know. I value professional truckers more than anything. but we all have to start somewhere. Trucking does not stop when someone is stress or have a sick relative or a dying loved one. Gotta roll.

In this case, the OP should stay home until that's permanently resolved and having done all possible to care in person and then go into trucking happy in the idea that all that is done is done.

Just get yourself into a more positive state of mind before going back into trucking if that is what you want. Caretaking will take a huge toll on your outlook and moods, being in the negative frame of mind is not a good way to start back.
