Hartt does have a real good reputation up here it seems... they're based in Bangor & recently built a new drop-lot in Auburn just off Exit 75.

RC Moore & NEMF are decent too.

If you don't mind pulling tanks, Superior has recently had ads in the JobsInME website, they have a terminal in Auburn.

Thanks for the reply. I just left from up there and saw a lot of Hartt, Pottles, NEMF. I'm liking my chances of finding a good carrier that has steady freight into and out of Maine. I'll be relocating to Portland area sometime this spring.

Poses just one question... WHY???? Admittedly Portland is close to Nh and (ugh) Mass and does offer more opportunities as far as employment and entertainment. Being a Maineiac, I have to ask why lol

    Me too... LOL.

If I was to pick a spot up in these parts to move into at this point it would be central/northern NH... but that's me.

I'm still trying to figure out how this state managed to elect a governor that appears to have some gonads... that NEVER happens in this state.

My dream for retirement is western Montana.

That's where my fiance lives or will live pretty soon. Right now she's in Friendship (near Warren, Thomaston, Damariscotta, etc). There are a number of other things I like about Maine. 1) the people. Not much different from Southern folks...just tawk funny!:biggrin_2559: 2) The obvious beauty of the state. I was there for a vacation about 2 years ago and took over 600 pics. 3) You can't be a crybaby and survive in Maine. 4) I was pleasantly surprised to learn of all the goings on there. The people are interested in so many different things which, in my opinion, adds a diversity that you don't find just anywhere.

On that note.... then here's what you do...

Take out a map of Maine.
Draw a line that follows US-Rt2 to Bangor & ME-Rt9 to Calais.
Stay NORTH of that line

Get south of that & you could be in for a disappointment... many of us up here want to give anything south of that line back to the Massholes... it's where most of the spineless whine-asterisk Kennedy-worshipers that infest it came from anyway... especially York & Cumberland counties.

    JustSonny and picaso Thank this.

Bangor (Banger to the rest of the nation) isn't too bad. lots to do and relatively close to EVERYTHING... good work options also.
Calais and most of Washington County really has nothing to offer except cheap rent lol But then everything south of your line gets all the funding and grants. Wash county, Aroostook County are in entirely a different state from the rest of Maine lol

When I was there for hometime recently, I bought my future MIL, who was ailing at the time, a Bob Marley CD. "Drop it haaaaaad, drop the ##### haaaaad!" I'm gonna get some more of his CDs. Funny man, ayah!

If we locate in Portland, I know I'll spend a good amount of free time checking out the rest of the state. I'm really looking forward to it.
