I think I may have this last winter. Forgot it on and 5 miles later, heard some bad noise.

I am not sure if I did or not but want to make sure I have the money set aside just incase I did, so I can get it fixed before winter.

How much does is cost to have fixed?

    Living up to your name?

Rebuilding a power divider would probably start at $1,500 & go up rapidly the more parts are broken. Wouldn't expect to break one in 5 miles though.

how long did you have it locked in? Five miles isn't going to destroy it. Unless you meant that you've had it locked in since last winter, that could be a problem.....

A truck driver of the past that I know had a nose cone go out on him down in Lousiness pulling a dump trailer loaded with rip. Back behind him was a small town with a place that sold trucks. Just happned there was on that lot jus like his. So off on side of the road he got his tool box out climbed under his truck taking the nose cone off.

After it got dark he walked back to this truck lot, climbed under the truck like his, took the nose cone off, them put his on it. Them waked back down & installed that nose cone on his truck, & away he went.

I do not know of anyone in our county that would trust this man. He had a brother that also drove a truck yet he was 100% opposite of him, probably everyone in our county would trust him will most anything they had.

Being as this was the subject I thought I would tell the true story about this, but I do not recommend that anyone try this.

Have you checked your oil for metal?
If you drove up till now with bits off metal floating around.............you might have broken all.

Hi Broken, personally, I never have, but that's because I have an understanding of what a PDL does. 1st, you should have a light on the dash indicating "PDL engaged", and 2nd, flipping the switch while the other wheels are spinning(while stuck) is detrimental to the PDL, and it only takes 1 time to ruin it. I'd check the oil in the front drive axle, if it looks like metallic paint, and you said it's making noise, it's probably a chipped gear, and the metal in the oil makes it's way to the bearings, ruining them and eventually takes out the axle or drive shaft seals.

I was at highway speed and 5 miles is just an estimate. I was on snow covered dirt roads and forgot to turn it off after getting on the highway.

My moniker comes from my mountain biking days. I have buried the rear derailer into the spokes of the back rim more times than I have had a flat tire. Brokenspoket didn't really fit, but that is what stuck. I must admit, it is more fitting with this situation.

It was about 5 miles. I heard a odd cluck and grind noise. I assumed it was the Diff Lock when I saw the light still on.

I have turned it on since then, but I am not sure that it is working. If only one side is spinning on both axles, then it is out, right? If I have the full front axle spinning, then it is in?

I will check the oil tomorrow, but I have to get and square impact socket to get the plug out. I have an oil change scheduled for Friday, I could have them check it.
