I have always kept to the 6 months to a year of salary in savings. Though it took time to be able to get to that point, and yes I dipped below several times but made it high priority to replace.Dan.S Thanks this.

Uhh if I could come into trucking with 8k in the bank as a cook you guys can do it trucking. Stop partying so hard or get a better job.
Texas_hwy_287, Maj. Jackhole and Dan.S Thank this. -
Plenty of people come into trucking with it being their first real job where they make enough money to save up.
-
Excuses.
-
For some reason I knew you would say that.
-
Of course it doesn't but the with the high cost of living its hard to save consistently without dipping into your account unless you have a real good paying job.People that travels for a living might be easier to save.

Ok. Think what you will. I wasn't allowed to have a real job before I was eighteen. Got kicked out as soon as I was eighteen. Yanked myself up by the bootstraps, but I don't need to be told that the fact that I didn't always have a bank account flush with at least a few thousand bucks means I was managing my money poorly.pattyj Thanks this.

Several months ago a guy posted he took one of those jobs with US Express and stayed about two weeks because it wasn't as advertised. I don't remember the details, but he was very unhappy!
Makes one wonder; why don't the drivers from those areas take those jobs. They complain about OTR and wanting to go local, but won't take those jobs.pattyj Thanks this.
